I visited Akiva Food on September 4th, and found a few expired products. Brought it to an associate's AND cashier's attention. The following was the exchange:
Me "You have a 2018 expired product here, just letting you know"
- "Yes, we know, that's why you see such a sale price"
Me "But people will get sick"
- "They can read labels, they know"
Me and another lady beside me:
"There are many elderly living here, you are purposely having them get sick?"
- "We do what we want, don't like - don't buy"
Where's the health inspector when you need one?

β β β β β The store is nice, you have a lot of variety to buy. Especially eastern Europe. Sometimes the line are big but it's fine. I like the meet section. Plenty of choice, and the food they prepare are good. The staff are nice.

β β β β β This place is no more than ok. They have very good and fresh groceries(!) hands down, but deli isnt very good.
Heard many bad rumours about deli part, so I never buy it from them. Dry food and frozen more or less ok, make sure to check the expiry date.

β β β β β Im an old customer, and always liked this store, but unfortunately their cooked foods are not fresh! Its not the first time I bought there ΡΠ΅Π»Π΅Π΄ΠΊΡ ΠΏΠΎΠ΄ ΡΡΠ±ΠΎΠΉ, but now I'm in a very ill condition, just after operation and I specifically asked, how fresh it is. A new girl that I never saw there before, sorry but she enormously big and fat, obviously lied to me that its todays. It had a strange taste but I thought its ok, only now I'm dying from stomach pain! I also bought red peppers in garlic, also spoiled. Do yourself a favour and stay away from their so called "food"!!!!

β β β β β I don't believe you would be able to find up to 80% of their items in any large supermarket chain. Its true that they are right next to Metro supermarket, however, not only their prices compete with Metro on common items like greens and vegetables, but their inventory is quite large and shelves are full given their square footage. Kudos!
They carry a lot of Mediterranean and European grocery and deli items. More specifically, to challenge the readers geography knowledge in this review; if you are looking for items from the watershed around any of the following three large bodies of water you are sure to score a good deal here, Caspian Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and Black Sea! ?
