★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At first this seemed like a good place for my stepfather. He'd only been in there a short time however when new ownership took over.
Food quality went down, personally products were heavily rationed. And maintenance on the building seems non existent. My stepfather father had a concern about the ceiling above his bed that looked soft, and stained, thought it was possibly black mold. My mother pointed it out to maintenance staff who said that he should probably test it.dont know if it been done yet,but they weren't to worried about it. Sad that a change in ownership can have such a bad effect on the people that built our communities. Shameful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mom was immediately stereotyped as aboriginal on first day (does that matter in care?). Nurse in charge would respond to my tearful inquiries with questions to my questions, on the second day mom was there. Nurse couldn’t verify if my mom was being sedated. Mom was unresponsive every time I saw her each and every day. Physical therapy wanted me to purchase replacement items on a wheelchair my mom was clearly not going to use. Second sit down with nurse I asked for specifics of the death process. If what I was seeing was to be expected if her sleeping was part of the process. I had done online research and was scared, grieving and wanted to be prepared as I knew her death was coming. I said I think she has the death rattle and I was told her vital signs were good and they would tell me otherwise, I felt foolish and dismissed. I got an awkward hug. My mom died the next day. Yesterday I got a voicemail from the social worker who had some questions about my mom. Her words, ‘…calling from Bow Crest where your mom is at. I have some questions.’ My mom passed on the 18th of March and social worker called me on the 31st. I had bad vibes of this place. I called to have her moved believing my mom had a few months left. My mom was only there 5 days. Dying in a small dark room. Renovate guys, “this is an old building” is not an excuse when family members are dying. Also get acquainted with your patients, last moments with loved ones depend on it.
