I was initially delighted by the much lower daily rate. Unfortunately I experienced some hidden costs in that discount. I waited forty minutes at the shuttle pick up for an Ace/Discount bus while no less than five Enterprise Car Rental buses came through. Then, I was not warned at the time of booking my car that their shuttle bus did not start until 8am and I had to call a taxi at 6am to take me to the airport. Cheaper yes, but very inconvenient.

Total disaster! Waited in line for 1 hour to find out that they did not have the minivan that I reserved a month ago. When they finally tracked one down it took 1 hour and 40 minutes to get it ready. When it was finally ready the price went up by $700. Fortunately, the confirmation email showed the agreed price so they accepted it. Then they tried to limit me to 300km per day and my reservation clearly stated unlimited. 2 hours and 40 minutes of my vacation spent waiting for my rental. The place had people lined up out the door (see my picture). Customers were catching taxi cabs and going to other rental places. The staff was getting yelled at and verbally abused but they stayed calm and professional. The people were nice but the process was totally broken. When I returned the car 9 days later at the Calgary location they had no idea who I was and had no record of my rental. When they called the Richmond office they said that they were "too busy" to fax my information. The Calgary office people all worked together and figured things out and got me to my flight. Good people trying to work with a terrible system. I will NEVER rent from these guys again. By the way I complained in writing and the said that they take this seriously and a "senior manager" from Discount has been assigned to this and would contact me. 10 days have now passed and nobody has reached out to me. Pretty consistent experience with these guys. After a few weeks they sent an email to apologize and offered me a free weekend rental and a voucher would be sent to my house. 6 week later the voucher did not come and I told them not to bother.

If travelling overseas with an overseas drivers licence (Not Canadian). Never rent with this company. Once they you arrive they force you to get their compulsory insurance. Even though we had our own travel insurance. Our car rental went from 367 CAD to 587 CAD. We had no other option to go with them due to busy season. I would never rent from them again. This was not clearly explain on their website or contract signed.

When I arrived (on time), the guy said he'll grab the key. He returned saying that they don't have the car, and that he'd tried calling me before transferring the car to another location. They did have a premium car, but he refused to give it to me at the same price as my booking. It is unfortunate that even after unilaterally cancelling the booking, they are concerned about maximizing their profits instead of remedying the situation.

Reserved a vehicle well ahead of time for a 9AM pick up. When I arrived I was told the vehicle wasn't there yet. It still wasnt there by 10:30AM and I was running out of time. Found a vehicle at another company. Then I registered a complaint with Ace and havent heard a word back after 2 weeks. NEVER AGAIN!

Vehicle was booked more than 2 months ahead of time to make sure I can get a vehicle for a wedding. Unfortunately, I was not contacted by any of the agents about having an issue providing me with a rental vehicle from Ace until 12 hours before my arrival. The phone call lasted 1 min saying they don't have a vehicle for me and good luck finding a ride. No effort or reason was given to me for why the 2 months advance for a rental was canceled but nothing was compensated or aid was given. I had to scramble to find a vehicle last minute to quadruple the cost so I could get to a wedding. I had a dozen other choices to choose from and choosing this company was the biggest mistake. This was a very unethical and poorly handled situation towards a company that believes in customers are first. "Come and discover how our award-winning service sets us apart." I know what sets this company apart. Giving a vehicle to someone that is willing to pay more. Thank you for your poor services, it was a slice, and I will never recommend this rental company to anyone else.

Awful. They are just scammers: - don't return deposit after returning the car !!! - don't have booked car at the scheduled date and time - in winter season tires are not for winter!! - extortionate extra miles rates

VERY DISIPPOINTED. I booked a large SUV online for a 1 month rental. I spoke with the manger Mo 4 days in advance of pick up and he confirmed the booking. The next day Hon called me to tell me the vehicle would not be available because of service issue delays, that it was in the shop and would not be ready until 2 weeks after my pick up date. The following day I spoke with Zander who told me the vehicle was currently on rent and not available as it was rented. I have called several times to try and reach Mo the manager with no return call. Now 2 days before the trip I am scrambling to find a large enough vehicle - which are difficult to find with little notice. Regrettably I didn't look at the reviews in advance of booking, had I done so I would have been aware that this it is common practice for this company to commit to a rental and cancel with short notice.
