I find most guitar and music stores all sell the same brands, making them interchangeable. What sets A Pratte apart for me is that they carry lesser known (but still excellent) instrument brands.
Bottom line: check these guys out if you are looking for a guitar, amp or string instrument and want something a little different.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I took my double bass to Aaron after a 14 inch crack opened in the side. The repair required taking the top off and putting bracing along the inside of the crack - not a simple job. He did amazing work with an extremely fast turnaround and my bass now sounds, feels, and looks better than ever. He was even able to get several years worth of caked on rosin off the top without damaging the fragile varnish. Pricing was very fair. Aaron has built numerous instruments himself and knows what he's doing. If you ever need work done I highly recommend giving him a call.

It shipped great everything was there In great condition, could have used a setup, but whatever, but I wasn't quite happy with it at first. He wouldn't accept a return, or at least the return was going cost my 2x the shipping cost plus 15% restocking fee, they treat customers poorly and talk to them like a-holes but I grew to like the guitar despite the poor service. Stars are for the fast shipping and product. But customer service is horrible lm

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Aaron took my average playing ‘Shen’ upright, gave it a small fingerboard plane, bridge tweak, and bump-risers. It plays more even and balanced than before. Good price and turnaround. Highly recommended luthier work in the Calgary area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don't write reviews too often but I feel like I have to give these guys 5 stars. I needed a righty guitar switched over to lefty and I can't tell you how happy I am I took it to A. Pratte instead of "the big guys." It cost me two-thirds of what "the big guys" quoted me, and the job was done ridiculously fast. Best of all they did fantastic work with both the conversion and the set up on my guitar!
On top of all that, the store has an awesome selection of instruments that you don't really see in other stores. Overall, the friendly and knowledgeable staff made it a fantastic experience and I'll definitely be back the next time I need any guitar work done!
