Dr Bebel is the best vetinary practicioner ever encountered. Have encountered other great Vet Dr's - absolutely - and lucky to have them treat my 'rare' special, Service Dog. Everyone's dog is special - I get it. Dr Bebel possesses a true passion, eye toward detail, and massive cross-domain understandings of the 'whole dog' unrivaled in my experience. Perhaps it is that she apparentley started as a 'vet tech' then pursued her interests to not just becoming a veterinarian, but a specialist. How hard must have that been? Super smart and treats your canine companion as if it were her own. You just know. Lucky to have found this wonderful example of how following one's passion can lead to such exquisite excellence.

My rescue kitty was referred to Dr. Legendre for his stomatitis (his gums were red and inflamed and brushing/special diets hadn’t helped). He recommended a full mouth extraction, which was scary at first but I had full confidence in Dr. Legendre’s judgement and expertise. He is clearly passionate about his work and excels in his field (based on how I heard other vets speak of him also). He and the staff at WCVDS were helpful, kind and informative every step of the way. I went ahead with the surgery and it was worth every penny. Improvements continued until 3 months post op, at which point my kitty’s mouth is perfectly pink and healthy! The greatest thing has been seeing how it transformed his personality and quality of life - I had not realized how much pain he was in and how it was affecting him. He is so much more relaxed, playful and energetic now, even has a different look in his eyes! It has made me really happy to see how he’s been helped. I am so grateful and fully recommend WCVDS, all of its kind and professional animal-loving staff, and Dr. L in particular. You can trust them with your fur babies, and your money.

My rescue cat had a badly misaligned jaw that was causing her canines to impact her gums and was putting her in chronic pain. I got referred to the West Coast Veterinary Dental Services to see a specialist who recommended a fairly extensive surgery for corrections. The raw price for it all was high (as expected when you seek a vet specialist surgeon) but for all the complex procedures that had to be done on her (tooth extractions, tooth cutting, pulp cap applications, ...), I thought it was fair. They do give you an accurate cost estimation before you leave your pet with them. My final bill with them was lower than the initial estimate range as well, which was a pleasant surprise. I was also very impressed with the post-op care - the vet who did the surgery offered to take off-hour emails and/or phone calls if anything urgent came up with my cat at home. The friendly staff also relayed questions and/or updates to the vet if she was busy attending to another pet, and called me back with advice and answers from the vet as soon as they could. I feel that they really give you the attentive service that you pay for and are a genuinely animal loving business. :)

Very friendly and attentive staff. We brought our pups in for bilateral knee surgery and he was so well taken care of. Dr. Michael King was very informative and was able to answer all of our questions and concerns. Definitely a comforting environment for high stress times both for pets and owners. Post op day one we were called for a follow up making sure our pups was doing well. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at CanWest. We're so glad our neighbor referred us to you before we thought about choosing another hospital :).

Django, a 16 year old cat had 15 teeth removed on 10/12/21 by Dr. Angie Bebel/assistants. From start to finish, Dr. Bebel/staff were genuinely patient, compassionate and thorough with explanation and follow up regarding questions/concerns. Pet owners trying to decide the best treatment plan for their pet, I can testify, this was by far the best decision to get the utmost in care.I can't recommend them highly enough.Because of Django's recent diagnosis of Stage 1/2 kidney disease coupled with his age, concern for his ability to handle the anesthetic was paramount (in my mind at least). This is where the 'specialization' in dental care allows for the needed procedure to be done accurately and quickly thereby having the animal under anesthetic for as short a time as possible. To assure that Django was in good shape for the anesthetic we had another vet do an Xray and blood pressure test. This helped calm the concerns of his ability to manage under the anesthetic and cost about $400. The other aspect that I decided (because of his kidney disease) was to give minimal pain meds post operation. I gave him them for 2 days. When I asked Dr. Bebel if this was ok, I was told it was my discretion. As far as my research indicates, some medications can accelerate the stage of kidney disease. Django seemed fine just healing with sleep. He even wanted to go out for his daily supervised jaunt the 1st day after surgery. I continued the antibiotics for the entire round. Something that should always be done. So, if you happen to be reading this review agonizing over what decision is best, I understand and I hope everything goes well with your decision and your pet's procedure. I was terribly stressed about the entire thing and prepared myself for the possibility things could go badly. Procedure, Money etc. I got a second and almost a third opinion. The 2nd opinion confirmed that yes, I would spend about $800 more, however, having the means to manage that cost and know he would be in the hands of extremely competent vet care, was worth every penny.Another thing that you must ensure is that your pet has Dental Xrays done prior to and after the procedure. The first vet had no ability to do this. If Xrays are not done, then one can not accurately know prior, what needs to be done and post, if all was done correctly.I read about the importance of this over and over. WCVD does these Xrays. I hope this review helps. It took me this time to actually write it because I have never written a review and I wanted to explain our experience honestly and thoroughly to help pet owners with their decisions. It was the reviews plus the research that made me decide to go with West Coast Vet. Django's dental care, to actually follow through and address it, took me well beyond the time it should have. Once Django was diagnosed with Kidney disease in September,I knew it was critically important to take care of his diseased mouth as not addressing this could accelerate the disease.I was afraid of the anesthetic and didn't want to face my fears.Had this procedure been done earlier, Django may not have gotten kidney disease (bad teeth can lead to infection in other parts of the body) and quite possibly may not have needed 15 teeth removed (which ultimately could have cost less). The entire procedure cost $3000. This was the low estimate. The vet that was to perform the surgery with no Xrays quoted $2200. I have been in the position to not be able to afford the highest quality care and it is difficult. But some care (after reading reviews and cross referencing necessary procedures) is likely better than no care. If interested, you can still get a consultation ($300) with West Coast Vet (this will be applied to final bill). I have read of many cats that survived anesthetic well past the 16 year mark. However, if you have the financial means, you can be rest assured that WCVD will take the utmost care of your pet.All the very best to you and your pet.Thank you Dr.Bebel and the wonderful staff.

How to describe wonderful....? Well in 2 words, Dr Angie! She and her support staff are amazing. Kind, calm, and connected. They all really listen when you express your concerns regarding treatment and post op care and complications. My little 1kg, almost 14yr old Chihuahua did not have the average straight forward procedure. Some stuff that I was told were possible did happen. Dr Angie was very good at contacting me immediately to inform me of the situation and what was being done. After care was awesome and generous. Things still didn't go as planned but with this team at the helm of my little #Starletthedoglet care, I knew everything plus some was being done to aid in a speedy recovery. Starry has now gained some weight and is doing great! All thanks to the wonderful team. Here are photos, first one, I'm stoned from the procedure, second I'm enjoying some icecream leftovers

Dr Lengendre and all the staff were all so friendly and caring, you know the minute you walk in you can trust them with your furbaby. My dog did a dental crown with them and she gets a bit whiny and vocal when she’s crated. The staff walked her multiple times to ease her anxiety. The doctor also called me with detail updates during the surgery. The second time we had to go back my dog ran in and kissed everyone so you know she was loved. I also had an issue with my insurance and the clinic was able to call my insurance company and clarify things right away. Their service is incredible. Note - you need a vet referral and the wait for an appointment is quite long these days (couple months for me). (Photo just for cuteness, but her crown also looks perfect!)
