About West Coast Kids
The story of West Coast Kids and E-children...
West Coast Kids was born in 1974 in Winnipeg, Canada. I was a young mom looking for baby furniture for my first born, and I could not find what I was looking for: a stylish, quality nursery set from a family-owned boutique store. There were no specialty baby stores at all at that time! My parents, who were already in the furniture industry, encouraged me to pursue it further. Not after long, I opened a small store in the heart of the exchange district in Winnipeg. We called it Friendly Bears. From there, the company grew. First, in the 1990s in as E-Children in Alberta, then as West Coast Kids in British columbia in 2007. Finally, in 2015 we reached Ontario, opening our first of two stores in the GTA.
From the very beginning, the store was founded on offering parents a friendly boutique environment with the best and largest selection, at the very best prices. Our many years of experience enables us to identify first-hand which products best demonstrate safety, quality, function, value, and style. Now under the leadership of our daughter Robyn, West Coast Kids continues to provide you with everything you need for your family, plus the trendiest, most exciting new concepts for babies and kids. Today, we continue to be committed to the safety and comfort of your children, and we continue to guarantee the lowest price every day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Customer service hasn’t been great for me at this location. I came in recently with my newborn, who was screaming in her car seat, and no one came to help me find what I was looking for. I’ve been back since then to order furniture, and staff didn’t seem very knowledgeable about the product or the ordering process, which was kind of disconcerting considering the cost of the items. Another time, I called to see if they had a particular stroller in stock and the person on the phone was actually pretty rude. Overall they have good products here but a lot of it is available at various online stores, and the negative experiences I’ve had here make me not want to shop here unless I “have” to. Downtown location has always been good in my experience—I would recommend going there if you need stuff that’s exclusive to WCK.

Once in the store, we met Kelly, and she educated us so much on the stroller system we went in to buy, and the stroller system, we ended up buying! Special shout out to Kelly, who helped us find our stroller (the last one in the city), and track down the last car seat adapter left in western Canada. This store is the best. HIGHLY recommend!!

My little one came very early, and we were very underprepared. The team at WCK was so helpful in getting us the right products for our needs, and helping educate us towards the best decisions. They even made special orders, pick-ups and shipping a total breeze. When we had to exchange some items that would no longer work for our situation, they were very accommodating and helped us figure out the best items instead.
Whether in store or over the phone, they've been really kind and happy to give advice.

We were looking at Uppababy and she showed us features of the strollers and car seats that I hadn't seen online or even from employees at a competitor. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She was also was able to help us with a baby carrier and went over the features of all the different models they carry. We were very happy with our experience here and will definitely be back to make future purchases. If you have any specific questions about a product I highly recommend talking to Kelly!

Samantha was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and took the time to demonstrate all the features and answer all my questions about the various strollers and carriers I was interested in. Great customer service and I would highly recommend a visit if you are looking for baby gear.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can't say enough good things about the staff at both the Princess and Kenaston locations. Sunshine and her team are amazing.
Being my first pregnancy, I was in the store almost every weekend for a few months checking out products and putting together our registry. Each time we went in, the staff greeted us so kindly and were always incredibly helpful. Whether that be putting together and taking a part a stroller (multiple times), getting our car seat installed, helping to pick the right items to fit our family or just being a friendly face, the store associates felt like close friends by the end of my pregnancy. The staff were never pushy or “sales-y”, are all incredibly knowledgable about the products they sell and made our shopping experience fabulous. Now that our little one has arrived, we continue to shop with West Coast Kids strictly because of the fantastic customer service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ordered a crib rail in store in April 2021. They charged us at the time of the order and then we never heard anything regarding our order and never received it. After waiting patiently for a few months we called to inquire and we were provided with they are unaware of when it will ship. We continued to wait and now 7 months later. Disappointed we called and requested a refund. We contacted through their website and their response was as stated in their policy shipping delays are out of their control. That I understand but what about charging when the item ships or at least contact your customer to provide an update. I have no idea how long this would've dragged out if we did not make contact attempts. The employee we dealt with in-store seemed quite oblivious and unconcerned. Just not a very good experience regarding their customer service!
