★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Update. Went back to the store for picking up an online order. The same guy came said sorry to me and I accepted. Glad to see that we all learn and grow from mistakes. That was not the first time I've been judged but the first time someone apologized after it happened. Truly wish every (small Asian) woman like me could be treated with more respect in the outdoor world.
Unfortunately, I had to come back and take 3 off from 5 stars because of my very unpleasant experience from the last visit. I was so disappointed after a sales guy refused to explain to me the specific functions of a climbing gear. I insisted to ask 3 times and he still didn't want to help and became inpatient. Then we left the store and my 10 year old boy asked, "Why didn't he want to tell you?" I really don't know.
I had received great services from here with all the other nice staff when I upgraded my backpacking gear. This "You won't buy it and I don't need to explain what it is to you" attitude will not be appreciated.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I wanted to post about Karsten and Cameron's work at the new Valhalla Pure Outfitters (VPO) in downtown Victoria.
Karsten mounted these skis for me last week. His work is excellent. It's hard to get good ski service in Victoria, and Karsten went out of his way to get a rig at the end of May (!). I've also gotten great help from Cameron at the same store.
Besides the staff, the Victoria's VPO has an excellent, concentrated selection of climbing gear. It's the store you would get if hard climbers (that were moderate gear nerds) were told to fill out a garage. Compared to a big Vancouver and Seattle store, the floor space is small. But the careful attention on selection shows, and gives the store a compact, useful character.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome team they have there at the Victoria location , I work at an outdoor store in Saskatoon and I needed help locating a tent footprint for a customer traveling to Victoria! Didn’t catch the guys name who helped me but he had an Aussie accent, great help from him!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great store with friendly staff. I thought they would have more in stock but it may just feel like less because I'm used to the Vernon store which is smaller so it feels like they have more in stock. I found the Ultralight pot I was looking for and redeemed a few of my vpo $$!
