I would give them zero stars if I could. I had a crown installed a couple of months ago. I started going to urban smiles because they charge the Alberta Dental Fee Guide. They recently started charge 5% more than the Alberta Dental Fee Guide and they didn't tell me this until they handed me my invoice (after the work was already done). Specifically for the lab work, they charged 300% of the recommended Alberta Dental Fee Guide. When I asked them about this they said that they increased their prices because of covid. I called a couple of other dentists in the city to see if they had also increased their pricing because of covid. No other dentist that I called has increased their pricing. Urban smiles is taking advantage of the covid situation to raise their prices They didn't have the decency to tell me they raised their prices prior to having work done.

He's our family Dentist and he's absolutely fantastic. Not to many of us like going to the dentist but Dr. Rob makes us all feel super comfortable and like family.

Excellent dentist! Dr. Andrew has helped my entire family and I over the past 20 years. Very friendly and has gone above and beyond many times.

Great office with great staff. I recommend Urban Smiles to everyone I know. The gals at the front desk are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Dr Andrews diagnoses conservatively and his work is precise and gentle.

I have been going to Urban Smiles for several years now and the staff are the friendliest people you could ask for. My kids are generally terrified of the dentist however Dr Andrew and his staff go above and beyond to ensure their both comfortable and relaxed before any procedures are done. I will never have to look for another dentist again. Well done Urban Smiles you should be proud.

The clinic has gone downhill. Multiple billing issues, treatment plan issues and blame patient or insurance company. Six months of chasing them to sort out billing issue ended with receptionist acting like a child and hanging up. This clinic will waste your time needlessly being bounced between them and the insurance company…after they have done procedures they deemed necessary…but insurance did not, though dentist said no issue with plan. I had already moved my cleaning…stayed as dentist is good, but not a business person and staff not trained to navigate insurance companies…leave that to patients. Need better management and clarity of prices and procedures. I have never had issues like this in the UK or Canada, but this clinic. Dr Andrew’s inaccurate response below speak. I could file complaints with ADA, which is just a few blocks from his practice, and whose president was my dentist for over 15 years with no incident. I sent a letter to your receptionist to explain issues, but you chose to go off the handle and respond, uniformed, just like you allowed your staff. You treat your business as a family, and do not demonstrate the required ability to reflect on the possibility that you or your staff could ever make a mistake. You did not do me a favour by covering the cost…your staff put you in that position…where you have no choice. Your own nurse cannot understand the contradictory treatments plan, and you blindly submit the same information without stopping to see why the insurance company may be denying…as they are likely confused if your staff is confused. If you want the money then do what I suggested to your staff…stop…review what the issue maybe and write a letter explaining, because clearly if your dental assistants do not understand how would an insurance agent with no dental training be able to understand. I have a very good group work plan, so it goes against common sense to go out of scope of coverage, unless it is unclear to insurance company because you made changes that do not make sense and seem unjustified. It is your job as dental professionals to ensure this clarity as patients cannot, we are toot trained and pay with our bills for this expertise to be supplied by dentist through wages paid to his staff assigned to claims…not patients with no knowledge at all. You do not seem to understand that your time and your patients time are equally valuable and most precious resource. You have wasted so much of my time and energy for months…for no reason…and did not educate your patient to give informed consent, and abused the trust of your patient by recommending and then changing the plan, and stating it was necessary treatment so no issue within being covered as the only way to go…but you were wrong. And you have stated to me in appointments you have had at least four other patients have similar issues. So why would you ever perform work without ensuring coverage is adequate and patient is willing to pay for treatments that could be deemed unnecessary. You are taking the risk…you can are responsible for creating your own forms and processes, plus you can take a deposit or refuse to do work before approval…this is all. Your choice as a business…not a family…and you are the common denominator…staff unhappy with dealing with unhappy patients, insurance company unhappy, patients unhappy…Dr. Andrew is the common thread…and then you accept no responsibility and blame patient as easier than seeing the truth…you and your staff make mistakes…as we all do, but you chose to be in denial. Your billing staff do not have adequate training to navigate with the insurance companies, so two admins with no training…one of your staff and one from insurer…make dental decisions…and patients made to pay for treatments they should not be paying for. I do not understand why you do not have a dental assistant or hygienist who is assisting with insurance claims on this full time, as my friend does this role in dental practice, but had to have years of hands on experience first so as to expedite claims otherwise…waste of money.
