We used United Van Lines to move some inherited furniture from Ontario to the Chicago area during Covid. We had hoped to rent a truck and drive it back ourselves but the Covid restrictions made that difficult. These movers were great in every way. They communicated well, they were on time, they were careful with the furniture, and the price was competitive. We moved a lot of antique heirloom furniture and a piano. They were expert at every stage of the way. Highly recommend! The 2 people we talked to in the office, Janet and Alex, were responsive, helpful, and patient. Our truck driver, Leroy, was the best. Thank you, United Van Lines, for making a stressful situation much easier!

We used United to move our household belongings from Ontario to Alberta. I used their app to do a virtual inventory of my home. The estimate (in pounds) was pretty well exactly what the load ended up weighing, so I didn't have any billing surprises. Regarding the move itself, they showed up when they were supposed to and packed the truck carefully, wrapping all of the furniture in blankets. My goods were delivered on the appointed day and again, everything was handled carefully. Nothing was damaged or scratched. The driver, Todd was great and kept us informed of any hiccups along the way. With movers, you get what you pay for. Go with United if you want your stuff to arrive in one piece.

This was a fantastic move from start to finish. Everything was secured from either ripping or any chance of glass breaking . Our movers were on time loaded and unloaded in a very timely fashion. From Ontario to Nova Scotia. Highly recommended

United Van Lines did my military move in August from BC to Ottawa. This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. During the move, the movers made racist jokes directed at natives, one even put their hands on me and proceeded to attempt to push me out of a room. They took all of our packed clothes from wardrobes etc and stuffed into corners of the truck - no box, no coverings of any kind. The rudeness and unprofessionalism was unparalleled in any move we’ve had. And it did not stop at the movers. When I submitted my claim to United they assigned an adjudicator, who has low balled and nickel and dimed us over our things they damaged and destroyed. Trying to contact the woman there was fruitless and only called back when I called and said it was ridiculous complaining to a manager. They just tried to give us $350 for a fridge they dented in for a $1200 replacement door (not advance to pay it off, that was it). They are trying rob us of the value of our things. They made a significant amount of our things junk and offered us junk value. Do not use United they are without a doubt the worst company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with for a move.

On the evening of August 28, 2021 at approximately7:20pm, my family and I encountered one of your employees on the Trans Canada highway between Grand Falls Windsor and Badger, Newfoundland. Heading west, I was driving a Dodge Ram sport pickup truck with my family aboard, including a child, on our way to Catamaran Park for our camping trip. The tractor trailer was pulled over in a trucker rest area just past River Front Chalets. I was traveling west at a speed of 100km/hr. The driver of the tractor trailer cut out in front of me, forcing me to engage my brakes and suddenly dropping my speed to about 75km on the highway. I maintained my distance behind the vehicle as my fiance and myself were shocked that this happened. At the first opportunity and passing lane, I passed the tractor trailer. The driver of this tractor trailer continued to travel very close to the rear of my vehicle. I recall every time I looked into my rear view mirror, the truck was uncomfortably close. At one point I was traveling at a speed of 120km/hr in hopes to get ahead and maintain a safe distance, but the driver continued to drive uncomfortably and dangerously close to the rear of my vehicle and not using the several opportunities to pass me in a passing lane. This continued to the town of Badger where the speed limit is reduced to 60km/hr. I maintained this speed and looked back in the rear view mirror to see the grill and lights of the tractor trailer behind me. After passing through (westbound) the town of Badger, the driver of the truck continued the behavior. Eventually, it was my turn off to Catamaran Park. The driver continued to the center lane, I took the right lane to turn. At this point the driver of the tractor trailer engaged his horn for a very long and unnecessary length of time, frightening us all. Frightened and angry with this driver's behavior for the last 25km, I did jack my middle finger to him. He slammed his brakes and came to a complete stop in the center lane on the Trans Canada Highway. I continued to the park. The driver then drove off. I was able to make out of the phone number on the side of the trailer, but not the license plate. I did make a phone call but was unsuccessful in connecting with anyone as this happened after hours. I did leave a voice-mail for somebody to call me so I could inform of this incident. This driver was erratic. It was frightening for myself and my family. It could have caused a serious accident. First, cutting me off while I was traveling at a speed of 100km/hr, then continuing to drive as close to the rear of my vehicle as possible, and then blaring his horn and coming to a complete stop in the middle of the Trans Canada highway is dangerous. People could have been seriously hurt, or worse, killed. I sincerely hope this is dealt with in a timely manner. I will be making a police report as well.

Our experience with this company was positive from beginning to end. From the first customer service representative that set us up with a quote to the final unpacking at our new location. The staff and the moving crews were friendly, responsive, efficient and professional. We cannot endorse this company enough. Our move was quite stressful as it was a long haul with some special circumstances and they helped relieve that anxiety each and every step of the way. A special shout out to Harold and his crew for their handling of the prep and packing and the unique parking situation in our neighbourhood. And tied for first place are Nick & Adam for the quick and cheerful unloading of our stuff onsite. They were funny and friendly and added to an already great experience. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, we appreciate all that you did.

***been 5 months since the move. They will not replace items they damaged. I provided undeniable proof that they damaged certain items and they offer $1000 as a “good will gesture” on over $5000 in items. Straight out refuse to cover other items worth $3500. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY!!! Worst experience ever. Nothing properly labelled, they did not deliver. Instead dropped off at a third party moving company, by the time it arrived so much of our stuff was damaged. United refuses to cover anything properly. Around $18000 claimed damages, around $12000 of the items they at first said they don’t cover, but now they say we must find a repair shop to verify that the items were actually damaged from the move, which how could a repair shop verify how the damaged happened. They refused all but around $6000 and offer just over $3000 to “assist” in replace these items. It feels like a process meant to beat us down in to submission and give up on our damaged items. Nothing adds up to anything other then us losing out.

They lied about pricing and insurance. First thing first, the movers themselves were great. That being said, the appraiser came to our house and low ball the weight. We told him other movers where much higher. He said don't worry, I know what I'm doing, at worst the difference will be $300. And of course they quoted lower than the competition. The total bill come out $3,300 more than they quoted! $3,300!!! Of course, they threaten to keep our stuff if we didn't pay. Crooks! As for the insurance. You pay like $1,000 for insurance but as they packed they said: things were not insured if they packed it and once we got here and complain some stuff were broker they said: they are not insured because we packed it. Thieves!
