Complete vultures!! Our jeep hit a patch of ice and flipped into a ditch on the way to Canmore during the February long weekend. We were obviously very shaken and had to climb out of the vehicle, which was on its side. As we were getting into the vehicle of a good Samaritan, someone from United Towing pulled up in what looked like an Emergency Response vehicle and proceeded to tell us that they were there to help us, but only if we called the number of the side of the car. We were extremely shaken (having literally climbed out of our overturned vehicle moments prior) and called the number as they said it was β€œthe only way” they could help us because of β€œprotocol”. We were certainly happy to have someone helping us and trusted everything they said. HOWEVER, we were never provided a quote on scene (and didn’t ask as we were shaken and hadn’t even seen EMS or police yet). We were also encouraged to get the car towed immediately that day, without giving us time to check our insurance or make arrangements for what would happen to our truck. Because of this, we were charged for towing to the impound lot in Canmore, and again to move it to an autobody shop down the street. We also didn’t have insurance for collisions (on our 15 year old jeep) and United Towing ended up charging us $1500!!! We feel like we were really preyed upon by United Towing, who completely took advantage of two young people who had just been in a severe accident and could have been suffering from serious injuries. They use a police scanner to find vulnerable people they can take advantage of so they can be on scene before the police or fire department. Completely despicable! United Towing also attempted to silence and bully me on their Facebook page (see screenshots below). Totally unprofessional. They also removed their Facebook reviews section in order to hide the fact that they have numerous 1 star reviews.

It wasn't a pleasant experience from a personal point of view but they went out of their way to make it as pleasant and professional as possible.

Johnny was extremely professional, helpful and friendly with our family when our 40 year old RV needed a tow from the ice field parkway near Elbow lakes. Keep up the good work Johnny, it’s nice to see someone who takes so much pride in his work.

Had trouble starting truck due to cold so driver mentioned running to store for ether/quick start. Waited 2hrs until I called back only for him to tell me he's on other calls and won't be back until tomorrow.

Extremely happy with the professional service we received yesterday from Johnny. My wife’s Harley broke down in Canmore and they had it towed within a half hour. No damage to the bike and just a pleasant experience in a stressful situation. Thank you United Towing and thank you Johnny. Very reasonable price as well and a really nice truck.

Like another reviewer, I had to take them to arbitration because of unauthorized charges. They added an RCMP call out charge that was not applicable, and the owner Gary was combative and rude when we questioned the additional charges. They also lied to me about the condition of the vehicles, telling me it was un-drivable (probably to jack up the storage fees). I got the RCMP charges taken off through the arbitration. I had no problem with paying for a tow, but I object to being charged with bogus charges. I think that they prey on people in terrible situations. Avoid if possible.

These people are complete crooks. My friend's car was towed to their storage lot with all of our ski and snowboard equipment inside, due to a fire after we had left it in a parking lot, and we were told by three separate people at this company that we would have to pay the entire towing and storage fees to that point ($900) plus a $100 gate-opening fee, in order to get our stuff out. That is completely illegal and I had to prove it to them by sending them the legislation, threatening to get a judge's order, and getting a lawyer involved. They also tried to increase the gate-opening fee to $350 because of registration issues. Finally, after almost 2 weeks of arguing and dealing with their B.S., our stuff was returned as it originally should have been. After all of this I was told by the tow-truck driver who opened the gate for us that I should call the liars at the dispatch and apologize to them because I had been nasty. Complete waste of time and completely unprofessional.
