Did my Advanced diver course with Aqua Society a few years ago. Very helpful and encouraging, staff are knowledgeable about the equipment. Now I still enjoy their monthly fun dives (called club dives but you don't need to be a UBC student nor club member to join). It's a great way to meet new dive friends, the bbq is delicious and dm Alex is awesome at pointing out cool/hidden animals. I would reccomend this shop

I've been diving with UBC Aqua Society for the last 5 years. Great shop, friendly and energetic staff, and excellent knowledge of diving and equipment. To date I've done my open water, advanced, rescue, dive master and open water instructor training at the UBC shop and Ive had a wonderful experience the entire time. Whether you're looking for info, gear or joining a class, I would definitely recommend these guys hands down!

When I first went into the shop of the UBC Aqua Society I was interested in fulfilling my dream of swimming with the fish (in a non-mafia related sense). I found the environment of the shop and club welcoming, professional and fun. I ended up deciding to take my first scuba diving course there. It was amazing. Over the course of the next three years I became an active member of the club, going on hundreds of dive trips and taking the courses required to become a scuba diving instructor... All through the shop. Clearly I found something special. The volunteer board that directs the club, the instructors and the shop manager are all excellent. I highly recommend learning how to dive here!

Brendan and his staff offer a top class experience when it comes to diving. If you're just starting out or want to go pro The Aqua Society is a great shop to dive with. They have well organized schedules for classes so whether you're a student at the university or work in the city they can always find a way to get you certified. Having the pool so close to the shop is nice as it saves so much time during courses. A lot of the instructors at the shop are or we're students at the university and did their training through the aqua society so they know exactly how to help new divers. The club aspect creates a friendly atmosphere with regular dive trips planned, and with tons of members there are always chances to meet new dive buddies.Of course in the shop they can also help you with any gear needs you have.

UBC Aqua has some of the most knowledgeable and attentive instructors I have ever met! I have taken courses here all the way from Advanced Open Water to Divemaster and have seen firsthand how much the instructors care about each and every student who comes through UBC Aqua. Their club dives also provide a fun, relaxed and welcoming environment to really allow diving to flourish as a passion. I will definitely be diving with UBC Aqua for years to come!

I am a university student, I have been diving with the UBC Aquatic Society for a little over a year now, and I absolutely love it! The UBC Aqua Soc is well run, organized and the staff are among the friendliest and most knowledgeable I have met! This was the shop that I first got my open water license from, and came back for a dry suit specialty, enriched air specialty, and my advanced open water. The instructors are amazing: they are consistently positive, very knowledgeable of all the secrets of their dive sites, and have an unbelievable willingness to put in the most effort in to make everyone comfortable. I am also consistently blown away by how well the shop is managed so professionally by a PADI Course Director and how they help with all diving needs! Some of my greatest memories diving have been through this shop from diving wrecks and carving pumpkins underwater, to wolf eels, octopus, sea lions, and other amazing ocean creatures! I really hope to continue to advance my own diving and I there is no where I would rather do it than the UBC Aqua Society!
