Winter Tires’ Special Rubber Compound & Flexible Tread
The biggest difference between all season tires and winter tires, is that winter tires are created with a special rubber compound that is designed to stay flexible in cold temperatures, which keeps the tire in contact with the road giving you better traction in wintery conditions. All season tires don’t have this compound, so when temperatures go below 7°C all season tires become hard and rigid and can lose traction with the road. Winter tires are highly recommended for anyone driving in cold weather conditions.
Designed with Sipes
Another difference between winter and all season tires is the sipes. Sipes are small slits in tires that push snow and water away from the tire. Winter tires have larger and deeper sipes to move water and snow faster, helping with acceleration as well as reduce braking distances on wet, snow covered and slippery roads.
Look for the Snowflake Symbol
In order to know if your tires are winter certified, look for the snowflake emblem on the side of your tire. Created by the Rubber Association of Canada and the Rubber Manufacturers’ Association, this stamp validates that the tire meets the specific snow traction requirements and is approved to drive in snow and icy conditions.

Never any surprises. The price quoted is the price you pay. I've always appreciated their honesty regarding deferred work. And they're never pushy when it comes to additional services. I would 100% recommend this place for any vehicle service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I would warn everyone before going to this shop. NEVER GO THERE EVER!
They will provide you with the cheapest price when you call on the phone. However, they always have hidden charges (extra work, workshop supplies, hard-work...etc). I went there to unlock tire lug-nuts. Peter, their sales guy, told me that each lug-nut will cost $10. After removing only one lug-nut I realized they charged me $33 for one lug nut removal. They used a chisel to break the nut instead of a proper tool to remove it.
On the other tire, they damaged the other rim, nut, and stud of the other tire. After doing all of that damage, Peter told me to come the next day to remove the lug-nut but they will have to charge me $190 to remove it. Not only did they damaged the rim, they also want to charge you for the damage they caused to my vehicle.
I would never go there again...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a slow leak in one of the tires I had purchased about 3 years prior along with the extended service package. Didn't feel I could drive as far as their closest location to have it looked at so went to Mr. Lube 3 blocks away.
They said there was a puncture in the sidewall and couldn't be repaired so they just did a tire change. Went to Trailtire and spoke to Peter Levecque and asked him if it could be repaired and initially he confirmed that a sidewall leak can't be repaired. He explained that because I had a 4x4 I would need to replace all 4 tires at aroun $1,000. He asked how much tread was left on the tires and I gave him a number I guessed at. We went out to gauge them and he told me I could probably get an adjustment toward new tires. I showed him the puncture location and he told me that he thought it was lower to the side and he would see if they could fix it.
Turned out it was repairable and cost me $0.00 instead of $1,000.
Big thanks to Peter and crew at Trail Tire.
Goes without saying if I need tires in the future there's no debate.

Darren the General manager works professionally and the rest of his team. Easy to deal, honest and accurate. Keep ip the super good job guys.
