I was just an immigrant who has limited my own potential before joining the club and Thunderbird has changed who I am and how I see myself as well. Come check us out!!

After visiting three different clubs, I decided to join Thunderbird Toastmasters, and there are three reasons for that. First, the club members. The club has members from diverse age groups with various cultural backgrounds that are passionate, supportive, and open-minded. Second, mentorship. As a new member, I had an experienced toastmaster helping me through the first two speeches. We talked hours and hours through the phone about everything that would make my speech better. What's more? Each new member is offered a orientation where a senior member will go through everything you need to know to get you on board. Third, environment. The club meets at James Bay Victoria, a quiet neighborhood close to the ocean that makes me relaxed. Having been a club member for a year, I has seen enormous growth on my public speaking and social skills. I believe these skills can be brought into any professional environment and make me a better speaker and a competent communicator.

I appreciate the mentorship from the many skilled members in the club, but also the opportunity practice prepared speeches, impromptu speeches, and leading a meeting.
