Amazing! Recently, I gathered up some inherited jewelry that I had collected over the years. Many of the pieces meant so much to me, but they either did not fit, were in disrepair, or just weren’t my style. Based on some positive feedback that I had heard, I went to Thompson Jewellers at 193 Bank Street to see what if anything could be done with my random collection. Immediately I had the good fortune of meeting with the Talin Hagopian Waugh, Thompson’s jewellery designer. Talin was lovely. She was welcoming, expressed interest in my pieces, understood that I wanted to create new pieces that fit my style but yet remained true to the time period, meaning, and original look of the originals. Talin worked with me over the course of a few weeks, sending me ideas and sketches, explaining each and every detail about her suggestions. Along the way, I met Derrick Thompson, gemologist and one of the owners of the business. Derrick provided valuable input and technical knowledge about the various pieces that comprised of Talin’s vision. Once I provided the go-ahead to move forward, Talin would keep me apprised of her progress. I could tell she was proud of her work, the art that she created. A short time later I heard from Talin that the work was done and I could come to pick up the newly customized jewelry. As I went in to the store, Talin and Derrick greeted me like an old friend, excited about the creations that they were about to show me. Each piece they presented was beautiful, exactly like the sketches that Talin had provided. Talin explained the artistry of each of piece, while Derrick spoke to how each was constructed. I could not be happier with the work that was done, the respectful customer service I received, and the genuine welcoming nature of Talin and Derrick. Every step of the way they exhibited professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm. I look forward to wearing my new pieces and highly recommend Thompson Jewellers! Thank you.

I'm thrilled that I got my stunning round brilliant diamond engagement ring at Thompson Jewellers! My husband and I felt it was time to upgrade the existing one. Derrick (the owner) and Talin (sales associate) were very knowledgeable and sincere. I had visited almost every jewellery store in Ottawa before deciding upon Thompson Jewellers. They found me an incredibly high quality diamond at a very competitive price. We also received first class service since they went above and beyond. My husband and I had expected to only view the loose diamond when it had arrived in store. However, everything was ready and the custom platinum ring was spot on. We were so surprised and touched, which made the whole experience even more special for us. I ended up getting the ring of my dreams within a week (super quick) and I couldn't be happier!! :)

By far the most friendly and helpful staff when it comes to buying an engagement ring. The most important part is the time the owner took to explain the details of each diamond and making recommendations. Not once did we feel pressured in one way or another. He could have spent all day showing us different rings and diamonds if that was what was needed. We have already recommended this jeweler to our friends and family and will continue to do so. We are proud to say that we supported a local jeweler and got the perfect diamond engagement ring.

Talin and the rest of the staff at Thompson's read my mind and turned my ideas into some amazingly unique pieces! Two wedding ring sets and one Amethyst ring/pendant/earring set represent 23 years of my life and I was at a loss as to what to do with them. Talin designed an Amethyst and silver ring and pendant that represent the resilience of picking myself back up and carrying with my life. The two wedding ring sets were transformed into two brilliant diamond rings that wrap around and compliment my Ammolite ring (separate purchase) that I can wear in multiple variations for various levels of formal wear. I've been here twice recently - once to have a silver cuff bracelet inscribed, again to have 2 gold necklaces and a pocket watch cleaned and polished. One of the necklaces was worn on my wedding day 43 years ago, now being gifted to my daughter. The pocket watch was a gift I gave my mother 50 years ago, now being gifted to my son. I trusted them with this because my first experience was a very good one. All 3 pieces came back looking brand new. I find their prices reasonable considering that this kind of work requires skill. I've been treated well and fairly each time. I recommend fully.

20 years ago, we went to Thompson’s for custom wedding rings. We were thrilled. Now, 20 years later, I knew Thompson’s was the only jeweller to go to for an anniversary ring. I didn’t want the “usual” anniversary type ring. While working with the kind, extremely knowledgeable and fun Talin, Thompson’s created a stunning Emerald cut/Trillion anniversary ring for me. It is exactly what I wanted and more. There is a reason that Thompson’s has been in business for decades; the team is friendly, down to earth, work within your budget and very creative.
