About The Water Tower Inn, BW Premier Collection
JJ’s Carry-Out soon grew into five KFC stores, but JJ, an innovator always looking for the next challenge, wasn’t satisfied. He envisioned a destination hotel, where locals would gather and guests would linger. When The Water Tower Inn first opened, it was the first to have interior corridors, a swimming pool and a whirlpool honeymoon suite. The Sawmill Lounge attracted little-known musicians who have now become big names.
Over the years, The Water Tower Inn went through many additions, with the last being The Pavilion Conference and Event Centre in 1989. The hotel’s name has evolved as well. But, ownership and our fierce independence remain the same. The Water Tower Inn has been a pillar in the community for over 45 years, committed to its own brand of hospitality excellence.
Our core business beliefs centre around giving back to the community, supporting our team and their development and protecting Mother Nature. Each year we donate thousands of dollars to different community initiatives, including The United Way, Tumaini Afrika SSM, Algoma University and the Algoma Fall Festival.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not a good experience. We stayed here on our way to and from Toronto. Both times the carpets were extremely stained and just nasty (enjoy the pics!). Bathrooms were small, old and gross. These were both main floor rooms. Hotel smells like it used to be a smoking hotel. Pool was about as old and dirty as the rooms.
We were given what we thought were 2 free breakfast vouchers for the restaurant (for these take-away bags containing a breakfast sandwich and a juice). When we got our bill they had charged us $20 for them.
There is no complimentary anything in terms of hot water/coffee – it's all done through the restaurant. To its credit, the restaurant's food was good. But c'mon...get some hot water in the lobby.
Conclusion: this place is Best Western in name only. In truth, it's an old outdated overpriced hotel that gives off some strong Braidwood Inn vibes from Planes, Trains and Automobiles. BW has some work to do here. Staff overall was fine to deal with.
We tried contacting Best Western about this experience but never heard back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rooms were clean and tidy, walls are thin. Had an issue with plumbing first night then a noisy guest on third night (not the hotels fault). Issue with noise was not handled well.
Restaurant wouldn’t accept our vaccine certificates for breakfast (complimentary due to issues with room) but we ate in the restaurant the night before and had been to many city properties and our documentation was fine with ID. Not cool as we had everything but they wanted us to get a QR code. Left without breakfast and front desk was less than helpful with this issue. In over three weeks of travelling this is the only place that was an issue.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We've stayed in Sault Ste. Marie countless time over the last number of years, and unfortunately, this is the first time we've checked out The Water Tower Inn. What a great place! The room is HUGE, and very clean. The staff have been so very friendly, and seem genuinely invested in conversation, not the usual 'hi, how ya doin?' small talk. The restaurant downstairs was pretty good, and the pool/spa looks pretty awesome from the windows. Will most definitely stay here from now on!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The staff were very sweet, very responsive. We had our dog with us and when we walked into our room, they had two bowls set up and a doggy treat. Really nice, clean room. Beautiful garden to wander in. We would go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If I could give this Hotel a 0/5 I would. My wife, myself and our kids stayed here and the ONLY thing good was the food. The bed was hard as a rock, fan in the room made clunking sounds, the wallpaper was quite literally peeling off of the walls and there was insane amounts of hair in our bed (not ours). The pool needed to be booked in advance and the hot tub was about as warm as a bath. The pool staff was incredibly rude and not accommodating at all. We left at 3 in the morning because it was THE most uncomfortable hotel stay we've ever had. Packing up the kids in the middle of the night was less painful then staying. So that in itself says a lot with 2 children under 5. We will NEVER stay here again and do not recommend

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wife and I we’re to celebrate my birthday at this location. We booked and secured a suite using prepaid Master card and I thought followed the hotels online policy.
When arriving at the hotel the reception clerk not a hello/welcome/how are you, just plan out are you here to check in. It was almost as if I was interrupting her, stated yes and provided her with my name. Next she stated as if frustrated we been trying to reach you all day over which wine we’d prefer for the suite. My reply was the type and when I called back had left the reply. At this point my wife and I looked at each other what the heck, it was all in her tone/delivery.
Worst was yet to come, she provided the amount and wanted me to run my credit card. She noticed the card didn’t have a chip. I stated no it does not you need to swipe. This is where the fun started, sorry we don’t take those cards – what? Didn't you read our policy!
It’s still a credit card with more than enough to secure the required amount. Never had a problem before with card. Nope can’t approve will speak with manager who was serving customer next to us who had more of there attention than us. I’ve run into more friendly snakes then these two. The reply was basically the same not for a suite. My wife then asked what about cash - no. So my understanding they take prepaid credit cards and cash for regular rooms. Along with the suite was going to be meals and drinks.
Instead of having any customer relations and maybe we take another room besides a suite they both returned to there duties and let us walk out. We’re locals that live half hour away, imagine travelling for hours and being treated like sh*t. Well word of mouth travels far in this small city.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had an incredible experience here at this hotel. As a busy family of 5, with really little kids, getting a lot of help and kindness is really important to us. The ladies at the front desk, both night and morning, were abundantly kind, patient and generous. They took great care of us. The rooms were warm, comfortable, clean and modern. The bathrooms were perfect. We would love to come stay again!
