When my daughter Pam got engaged in 2016, I was thrilled to watch my first-born plan her wedding. When we went bridal gown shopping we found very few dresses in Pam's size to try on, my heart ached. I hated watching my daughter feel uncomfortable in cramped changing rooms that were not designed with women of all sizes in mind.
The experience was extremely disappointing, and I felt deeply that it didn't have to be. I knew that gorgeous fashion-forward gowns existed in plus sizes, so why weren't they being sold anywhere that was accessible?
It may have been discouraging but the experience sparked an idea. I didn't want any other women to have their excitement and joy tempered while planning the most important day of their lives. I immediately jumped into action, planning Winnipeg's first ever plus-sized bridal boutique.
With chic decor in mind, I planned for oversized fitting rooms, comfortable chairs, cushy floors, flattering lighting and most importantly, a great collection of dresses up to size 32+, on site, for brides to try on.
Never again would a woman have to feel intimidated in a bridal shop that didn't cater to her needs. Regardless of her size, every woman should be made to feel stunning in her wedding dress and be able to thoroughly enjoy shopping for it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had an amazing experience here finding my wedding dress. They have a huge selection of extended sizes and the owner and seamstress are wonderful, skilled and knowledgeable. They made me feel very comfortable, gave great advice, and knew exactly what I was looking for. I went to two other dress shops before this and didn’t get the same expertise and customer service. They also had a big sale on and I got my dress for a huge discount. Highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was at a boutique earlier in the day that suggested them for bridesmaids dresses, I called to make an appointment and they got us in THE SAME DAY. They were all so kind and sweet, they really made sure my bridesmaids were happy with their decisions and they kept their price point in mind.
They had a massive selection of veils (I had not gotten one yet) and they even set aside time to help me find the perfect one. Amazing service from all the ladies here!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Earlier this year, I shopped here with my sister via appointment to look for a wedding dress; I was so very close to finding the one, but unfortunately found 'The Dress' elsewhere. The staff who assisted me were incredibly wonderful, unfortunately I didn't catch any of their names as everyone stepped in to assist whenever possible and there was just too many people for me to ask for any names, let alone remember all of them. They have pretty gowns here, and I love how their seamstress is very hands-on so any adjustments I wanted were done in real-time with pins so I could see what I would be getting if I proceeded with the purchase. Lovely experience and would highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

The seamstress Elaine was there that day and was quick to make adjustments to better envision the dresses and all the staff were kind and knowledgeable! We ended up purchasing the dress and veil the same day (they were kind enough to let us break for lunch and try on the dress again). Their care and expertise made the exciting day even more magical and I’m so happy our friend said yes to the dress!

The selection is amazing, and it was so nice as a plus-size woman to be able to try on so many different dresses that actually fit! Joanne was so helpful to myself and my mom (who also bought her mother of the bride dress there) when trying on dresses, and Elaine was absolutely incredible when it came to alterations. My dress wasn't able to be ordered in a different size and she had to put a LOT of work into it, and it ended up fitting like a glove and looked absolutely stunning - all for a very reasonable price. I'd highly recommend checking them out if you're in need of a gown (their grad dresses were also beautiful!)

There was a massive selection of beautiful plus sized dresses to try on well within our budget. We also purchased a veil, a tiara and jewelry, all very reasonably priced. The service was excellent. I would highly recommend The Perfect Gown as your first stop in your bridal gown journey.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I cannot say enough good things about Joanne and her store. As a (very) plus sized bride, dress shopping is what I dreaded the most because most stores don't carry a sample bigger than a size 12-16 or simply can't even order in a dress larger than a 28.
I reached out to Joanne prior and sent her my measurements and she assured me there would be dresses I could try on.
She was not kidding!! I think I must have tried on at least 10 dresses?? I lost count after 5!
My experience today with Joanne was so positive, fun, safe and just AMAZING!
The dressing rooms are very spacious and HAVE A FAN!!!!! It is a workout getting in and out of some of those big dresses, so the fan was a pleasant addition.
There is a wide variety of styles and prices in dresses. She even has a line exclusive to her store - they are stunning!!!
10/10 would recommend!!
