Would give zero stars if possible. Their group skating lessons is a total joke and waste of money. Kids are bored doing the same stuff every week and don't improve. "Instructors" are miserable and uninterested in the kids except for 1 or 2 of them. 50 min of wasted time.

I am glad that I find this place for my daughter. She used to go to another club and she was not that happy, however she loves to skate. I recommend this club as they are friendly and professional. Thanks all coaches and their supervisor "Amanda" for all help. I saw some negative reviews in this add, but as a parent dealing with skating about 5 years, I am very happy about last year registration with this Club.

The Newmarket skating club kept the young skaters in Pre-CanSkate or CanSkate classes for a very long time. The kids are not allowed to join the junior classes even if they are ready for smaller group lessons. Therefore their progression is very slow and and is a waste of money.

Great facility. However, this club is run by volunteer board members whose real interest is SELF PRESERVATION on the board so that their own kids can get a job as cash paid music players and later become CanSkate coaches (age 16 till high school graduation) whether their own skating skills are fit to teach young developing children or not. Board doesn't have any interest in developing quality skaters and they don't represent demographic of Newmarket (they were so into self preservation and basically ensured all the other demographic groups not to be elected in the board - went extra extra miles). No wonder there are feedbacks by other google users regarding inefficiency of CanSkate session. Not money well spent there. Would give 0 star if possible.

My son has been going to this club from canskate and he is now a senior skater. I don't sit on the board and other than volunteering occassionally for special events like skating shows or competitions, I have not been involved in any part of running the club. This club is run by volunteers for the kids and the volunteers give a lot unpaid time to make the club the welcoming inclusive place that it is. The coaches are encouraging, positive and make learning fun. I am thankful that this organization is around for my son and for others like him who are not there to be number one but to have a good fun place to learn. The volunteer program assistant of qualiied students plays a vital part in helping to make the fun happen. There is always room for improvement so join the club and bring with it your positive can do attitude, skills and energy to help make it a better place. For me, I'm just grateful that this club and its' ethos is here.

My kid had the WORST experience at this place(The program ran by the City of Newmarket but the coaches are from this club). From the very beginning the instructors already showed no patience nor expertise for the young children. My kid was crying on the ice because of the fear of falling, instead of helping or encouraging him, they soon considered him as "trouble", totally ignored his begging for help, even rudely shovelled away the cone he was holding to stand, made him lost his balance, fell and scratched his face. And then just threw him out of the rink, left him out on the hallway all by himself crying without knowing what happened to him. The people work here have no heart.

The only good thing I can say about this club it’s about great facilities they have. This club is not interested in advancing their talented kids. Coaches are keeping kids till the end of their β€œlevel” disregarding of their abilities. Management run by volunteers are all about the status-quo, i.e stagnation, and keeping their places in the management committee. Any skating professional that tries to raise the professional bar is fired or leaving this club because of that. Competitive program is not existent and most likely it’s permanent. And that’s why you’ll almost never can see kids from Newmarket Skating Club on almost any serious competitions be that on provincial or national level. And that’s not because of kids, but because of coaches that are not interested in this (or not capable to make it - cannot say). So, if you’re looking for a quality skating training - my advice to avoid this club and not waste your time and your kid’s time (which will become precious as the kid is progressing). As a matter of fact all kids that left the club to other schools had to re-learn even the skating basics. If I could give a zero start rating - I would. Based on our own experience.
