It is sad that the positive review came from someone who is out of touch with her leadership. Maybe try to treat your staffs with respect, then maybe you'll have actual staffs. Also maybe state your role with your review, conflict of interest eh? Let's not even talk about your fake 5 star review in indeed. I am not disgruntled yet here I am giving you this honest 1 star rating. I am happily working are you?. Are you happy with your situation? We just want people to know not to believe your fantasyland.

First and foremost, I used to work here as an HCA. The facility is nice, most of the staffs are great. That ends with the positives. Iwasn't planning on writing a review as I had already moved on with my career. I just don't understand why the "Lady" had to say the negative reviews were from "Disgruntled employees", can't you just acknowledge that there is a problem with the way you and your friends run this place? I am giving this place 1 star because of the unprofessionalism and lack of introspection of the leaders. Ask anyone who work/worked here, and they'd rate this place 1 star as well. Instead of taking ownership of the problems, the leaders choose to blame it on others or on the situation. I hope the CEO would look into revamping his crew.

I just recently resigned from The Hamlets. This is a beautiful facility but is quite problematic. I didn't like how everytime there's an issue, they'd always say growing pains. It is not growing pains because it's the same problem over and over again. Maybe take accountability and be responsible for your decisions for once. Also, they keep saying "Not old school LTC institution" I agree coz in my experience this was worst. I cannot honestly recommend this place for residents, families or employees. What you read in the reviews are accurate depiction of what it's like to work here. I don't know who wrote them, I guess everyone found their voices to finally speak.

Most negative reports that appear here are indeed posted by disgruntled employees who for various reasons don't fit into the very difficult care provider role. It is a difficult employment to say the least and also rewarding for many. This facility has had problems over the last 2 years through the CV19 epidemic that greatly effected construction and staffing while admitting LTC residents. I wait patiently for a unit in the assisted living wing which is nearing completion. I have been assigned a suite. The staff have all been very helpful from management, Nurses and general support staff. From what I have seen the quality of care and amenities is certainly outstanding and as my wife has been a resident LTC patient for nearly all this past year I can state that this will be a first class facility when fully up and running. The 4 stars will undoubtedly become 5 on my personal move.

I can understand the frustrations I've read from Former employees. I truly feel this facility will be awesome once it's staffed well. All businesses in Duncan or in B.C. are short staffed and I'm seeing even restaurants closing some days due to staff shortages. In health care, you can't close the doors but need to continue on, short staffed or not. Working short is HARD on everyone and is very stressful especially when trying to organize a new facility. There are some wonderful clients and staff and the building is AMAZING with ALL NEW EQUIPMENT!! If you're willing to ride the bumps while in a place of transition, come apply!!

The Hamlets like any other NEW business have there up's and downs.. Starting up any new business is difficult in this new world environment. The hamlets have acquired exceptional staff that are committed to the best possible care. Yes we are short staffed. Yes overtime is a possibility. Yes the hamlets will be accommodating.. Yes the hamlets will work with you not against you. Yes you'll be frustrated, yes you'll feel like you haven't been heard.. But yes in the hamlets you have a voice and yes you will be heard..

I was given the opportunity to work here fresh out of the HCA program with viu-cowichan campus.... I been working at the Hamlet's since was still under construction and I enjoyed watching it all come together and was excited for 1st day residents to come in. Yes it has its pros n cons but what business or company doesn't. I really enjoy the leadership that is at the Hamlet's now! I am PROUD to say that I' have been employed by the Hamlet's for 1 year n 7 months and was there when 1st residents moved in. I am now a HCA and I love what i do, I enjoy getting to know residents, I plan on continuing to work here as long as I can..... only down side is my commute to work is 40 minute drive but I would not want to work elsewhere, I love it here, great management team, my coworkers are amazing!!!!!

Our Mother has been a resident at The Hamlets since last March. We are so grateful for the creative and individualized care that she receives! it is truly awesome and is unlike the care she received at her last 2 places--one of which she got very sick at, and one of which closed suddenly with 9 days notice. She feels safe and cared for. Some of the special care points: 1) her children live out of province and the staff pick up the phone and help her to call when she has an anxious day. 2) she was incontinent and very weak when she arrived--now she is continent, and strong, and she has gained some needed weight. 3) she used a wheel chair when she first came. Now she uses a walker, and walks the corridors of her family unit, independently. 4) but very important, the staff act like family--they are patient and understanding, and they take the time with mom and the other residents.
