Love the show. Laid back and relaxed compared to the plethora of competing shows. The staff really look like they enjoy what they do. Dave’s eclectic fashion adds variety and he comes across as very friendly. I tend to have a bunch of recent cars, but should I branch out, I would invest in something from him.

There is a least one documented incidence over 3 years ago of a client suing The Guild for poor quality workmanship, failure to provide the client with accurate information on the progress of the project, and failure to uphold the terms of the written estimate that The Guild's GM had provided (Barrie Small Claims Court No. SC-342-16). The Guild charged over $800 to perform a complete in-depth inspection/analysis of the car's condition before they started. There was no indication of any major repairs required (the GM kept saying in his written emails that the car is beautiful). The written estimate for the work I asked for was for approximately $15,000 based on a written list I provided of items to repair, replace and/or refinish. The final total was over $45,000 with no additional work being done, and a great many items not done, or done to a poor level of quality (even the person doing the final tune up left a dirty air filter in the vehicle, and their solution to fixing the air conditioning was to pump in R12 CFC which is now banned due to depletion of the ozone layer in the atmosphere, and then two weeks later invoice me again (just two weeks before I picked the car up) for pumping in a few more pounds of R12 when the first charge leaked out - even though I had given written approval to convert the system to R134a - non-ozone depleting). Months later, the compressor seized because there was no lubricating oil in it. Thankfully I was in constant email contact about status of the project, wherein the GM kept stating in emails everything was progressing well, with no major issues were being uncovered. This documentation, along with pictures of all the work done provided a 3" three ring binder of evidence that was included in the Statement of Claim filed in the Barrie Small Claims Court. It took over 3 years for the case to come to court (delayed at times because The Guild was filming for their TV show/advertising). Finally, because I lost my job in the interim and had to take new employment in another province, the "Out of Court" settlement The Guild offered ($10,000 less than the amount being sought) a few weeks before the trial date, was accepted by me. The GM whom the client was in constant contact with via emails during this project "mysteriously left" the employment of The Guild without warning to the client (after first being demoted to the parts department) just weeks before this project was completed, leaving new inexperienced and uninformed management to deal with the problem. For the next 3 months, it seemed there were constant delay tactics employed to "make me go away", but I decided to get legal advice, and the rest is a matter of fact. I strongly recommend if dealing with this company to get a written estimate (no matter what is said about this being impossible to do - all the subject matter experts I consulted with during this legal battle stated emphatically that they could all have easily provided written estimates for the kind of repair work requested, and could have easily completed the work to a good standard while keeping within the original estimate provided by The Guild to avoid "grave danger"), read all fine print on all contracts signed (even faded and "grayed out" micro type on the back of documents, invoices, etc.), and keep complete accurate written records of all communications you have with any manager you deal with. And in no case agree to a weekly billing of services unless you are prepared to do weekly on-site inspections to verify the work they claim has been done (emails and telephone calls will not guarantee anything). Document everything associated with your business dealings. All evidence seems to point to that there has been some very poor project management and equally poor general management at The Guild. So many reviews say they love the TV show, love the gift shop or the show room cars, but how many reviews say they love work done on their car. If you're in it for the long term legal battle that may occur, fine, your decision.

It is now the next summer, finally got a chance to drive the car as Guild stole last summer from me. Got lots of photos I'd like to include here as they used plastic tubes on the engine, Mugler never changed. Oil pan leaking and simply put the car doesn't even drive . Feel free to reach out if you want to see the photos as I'dove to save someone the time money and aggregation . It's not just a bad job it's a dishonest job. Don't think because the are on TV they are reputable . I made that mistake. ------ I heard great things but unfortunately the experience did not live up. Delays are expected for parts but not being able to give a time frame on labor is unreasonable. Work was not completed as described and after waiting all summer to get my 280sl back I found myself terribly disappointed with the work. I called last week and expressed my concern . Was told I'd get a call back but never did. I've moved on and found another garage, suggest you do the sa
