The Dining Room at Butchart Gardens

Try to make a reservation or put your name down before walking around if you want a table sooner than later! The service was fantastic - very friendly and attentive. The teas are quite delightful as well. We really enjoyed the variety of savoury and sweet selections. The almond mushroom quiche could've used a tad less salt, but the flavour was great. For a $42 set afternoon tea menu, the price is surprisingly fair compared to places in Vancouver, especially considering the ambiance and atmosphere here. Would highly recommend.

Loved the vegan high tea experience at the dining room. The savoury items in particular were absolutely amazing, but all the sweet items were great too. Hot tip: If you are more of a savoury person, when you book you can request that both main tiers are savoury. My favourites were the savoury tart with mushrooms, the lentil roll, and the espresso truffle. But honestly it was all great. We also had the tasting drink flight that completed each food tier. Service was excellent and friendly. I will definitely be back! PS. If ordering the vegan high tea, make sure to put in your request at least 24 hours in advance either via the comments box at OpenTable or calling the restaurant.

Beautiful! And gluten-free for those with gluten sensitivities! I’ve been wanting to enjoy afternoon tea at Butchart Gardens for years, and finally had the chance this week. Oh my! Such a soothing and beautiful environment! We were able to sit in the lovely conservatory side of the restaurant, tucked in amidst glorious begonia blooms, and overlooking the gardens. It was busy, but our servers made us feel very relaxed and unhurried. I am highly gluten intolerant, and rarely hold out much hope for afternoon teas - I usually find gluten-free menus are less interesting and not as pretty. I was thrilled to hear I would have the exact same items, only completely gluten-free! Everything was gorgeous and delicious. The teas were lovely, and I enjoyed a Kir Royale, while my friend enjoyed the Limoncello lemonade (made with Limoncello and Prosecco). We had been to The Empress the day before for their afternoon tea, and to be honest, it was fine, but Afternoon Tea at Butchart was more than half the price and definitely twice as good. Very very impressed! Thank you so much to your friendly and hardworking servers who did such a great job. Followed up with a leisurely stroll around the gardens, it was a lovely afternoon. I would say make sure to allow 2 hours for your tea at peak times, take a healthy appetite (so much deliciousness!), and an appreciation for all the beauty that surrounds you. Don’t forget to be kind to your servers who are working hard to make it an enjoyable experience for you! Mask up, and be kind!

Afternoon Tea is must! It's a set menu at $42.50 per person but it's excellent. Leave the truffle in the box until the end as it's the most decadent of all. The services was great and the staff knowledgable about all the dishes and teas. Teaberry Blend and Bachelor Button were both great teas. Sit outside if you can as it creates a good atmosphere overlooking the gardens.

What an experience !!! Definitely worth the wait travel. Loved their service, she was so polite yet informative. Food and tea was par excellence. Will definitely be coming back for more.

The Christmas holiday ambiance was magical, the serving and hosting service was great and people tried hard to please, unfortunately for the price point the food quality falls really short. A $50 steak should not taste recently defrosted, it should be fresh and locally sourced and lacked any flavour. Do not have high expectations for food quality for dinner and you’ll be fine. The wait staff tried really hard to please and it’s not their fault the food failed. Next year we might just grab a snack and check out the lights vs having a full on dinner at the dinning room. Having said all this, their high tea which we have had previously is a great deal, and lot more care and food quality appears to go into that. This place is accessible, however the mens bathroom is a tight squeeze when using the urinal

Gorgeous atmosphere! Reasonably priced for a real tea service. Tasty variety. Great waiter. Only one choice for tea service. Tea itself was very lovely and can be purchased in gift store if you want to purchase and take it home. Fresh gorgeous flower arrangements from the gardens throughout, even in the bathroom.

After tea at the Empress, I actually prefer tea at Butchart gardens. Held in the original residence of the family, the house overlooks the Italian garden on one side and the square near the entrance to the sunken gardens. There are multiple rooms but I reccomend the original dining room overlooking the Italian garden if possible, as the other main room doesn't have much of a view and overlooks the small garden in the front of the house. We had quite frankly a spectacular view overlooking the Italian garden and was probably the best seat in the house. The tea and food were excellent and I liked the more casual atmosphere, since guests were to be trooping in from their tours of the gardens. Definitely make a reservation, its not to be missed.
