“It was about taking my own path,”
It’s been over twenty years since Marvie, single mother of two, took the plunge and decided to bring the up-and-coming furniture consignment concept to Calgary after discovering the stores of California.
“I put some of my own furniture and accessories in the store and then went door-to-door handing out scrolled flyers.”
Her homemade strategy paid off and, before she knew it, her first television commercial was on the air. The customers were lined up outside her small store, embracing this new and exciting idea.
“That was the moment I felt I could really do this,” says Marvie, who had traded furniture for the advertising services that gave her the break she needed.
“We really went out on a limb back then, and it definitely paid off.”
In the two decades since its creation, The Consignment Gallery has grown from a mere 3,600 sq. ft. to a brighter, more sophisticated location more than five times its original size.
“What’s important to me is the energy and experience we provide the customers. A big reason we’ve done so well is because of our team. They are helpful, inspired individuals and everyone contributes with their own areas of expertise.”

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been to the consignment gallery many many times over the years. We have found a couple great pieces that we still have in our home. Today we found a bed frame at a great price. Check it out and revisit frequently because you just never know what you might find. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is always exceptional. They don't just take any furniture to display. It has to be a certain standard. The bed frame we got today was from a show home and was brand new. Can't recommend this store enough.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really enjoyed my experience at the Consignment Gallery. Came in on a Saturday or a long weekend. They were steady with customers but not too busy. Had a sales associate walk me around the store, gave them a few ideas of some items I was looking for.
Table, chairs, couch, coffee table etc. They had plenty of product at reasonable prices & everything looked to be in great shape! Appeared to be higher end furniture at lower prices, I think everyone is looking for that.
Will definitely come back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Many interesting pieces of furniture, regrettably, customer service when visiting the store has been consistently poor and disappointing. For example most recently a piece I was interested in and found online had been sold 2 weeks prior to my visit, staff were unaware and reluctant to verify this for me. This was last week and I see the piece is still listed online.
