It’s been aprox 10 years since we have been here for the afternoon tea! The quality of the food is very well done. You do feel like you are paying a premium for each bite. I feel they are a little understaffed. Also, it would be great if they offered complimentary seconds for some of the sandwiches like before.

While on a girls trip away ( moms gone wild) we decided to book high tea and take it off the bucket list. The experience was epic. We decided to hit up a local value village looking for some neat hats, that was a busy. We hit up Robertas Hats, the selection there was huge but the price range was steep. $50+ for a hat. The staff in the store were amazing and had alot of fun with us. Ended up going to the local Dollerama and creating our own head pieces for brunch. The tea & food were delightful. Tableware, Tea selection, the plate of goodies. Wow the sandwiches and sweets were delicious.

The food was so beautifully presented and delicious. You definitely need to pace yourself. The Blue Suede Shoes tea is my new favourite and a must buy at the gift shop. Our server Lorne made the experience even better. We loved everything about our visit and will be sure to be back!

Definitely overpriced for what you get. The server mentioned that one tea would be sufficient for two and so we ordered one but little did we know that the price is per person irrespective of if you take one tea or two. The staff did check on us frequently so that is a positive however the snacks served with the tea was not anything extraordinary. Probably we had very high expectations for the price!

The tea was beautiful and a true experience. If you’ve never done it, I highly recommend it at least once in your life. The server was a bit to be desired. He spoke so fast that I actually had to tell him that I don’t process that fast and to please slow down. Then he proceeded to tell us inappropriate information about his rift with his sister and how successful his daughter is in her career. It’s was just awkward.

This is a must if you are visiting Victoria. Be prepared it is pricey but worth it for this world famous experience. Make reservations ahead of time online! For 2 people, you get to choose 2 teas and share one 3-tier tray of food. It was a good amount of food, we couldn’t finish it so we took some to go at the end. The tea room is stunning with views of the harbour. Some guests dressed up and wore tea party hats, so fun!

Our Server Marlene was Exceptional! I could tell how busy she was and she didn’t show it at all and took her time with us to explain everything so we could have the best possible experience. The ambiance and food was delightful and the food and beverage Manager Yogesh was extremely friendly and recommended local places to visit and experience. I will definitely be back with my girlfriends for another wonderful experience. If you're in Victoria, you really cannot miss the afternoon tea at the Empress, its definitely more formal and traditional than other locations but not to be missed. The tea room has a great view overlooking the harbor and always features a live pianist playing oddly classic pop music. The check-in stand is at the far end of the tea room away from the hotel restaurant and closer to the hotel shops. Service is exceptional as to be expected and you'll be able to select whatever tea you prefer from the uniquely present menu, with suggestions for children if they're interested. Children also get their own special menu. The tea and food were excellent and the atmosphere very relaxed. Note, dress code is pretty relaxed as I saw everything from t-shirts to more formal dress and some really formally dressed tables. You can of course purchase any of the tea or bone china cups from the gift shop right outside the tea room.
