★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lot of you giving this service 1 star have no idea how important it is to the district of thunder bay. I come from another province and the prices that Tbay tel are offering are cheaper by a lot.
I am currently running 400 down/200 up on their fibre line, and have not had any issues with installation. All my interactions with their customer service has been awesome.
You have to realize that IF this telecomm service was privatized the workers would have lower wages, the service would cost more (look at any area where the only offerings are the big 3) and the workers would have a lower quality of life.
ON TOP OF THIS the profits that tbaytel makes goes into improving infrastructure AND are reinvested back into the district of thunder bay. This WOULD NOT BE THE CASE if this was a private company, it would go towards the pockets of the executives and be prioritized solely to optimize that profit. Just look at what Bell did after being bailed out during the pandemic, they cut thousands of employees and had the audacity to give executive bonuses with tax payer dollars.
So yes some of you may have had unpleasant experiences with Tbaytel but at least this service belongs to the people of thunder bay, and prioritizes its people and the services you receive. Hopefully it will continue to improve.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ tbaytel is better than shaw, if you are trying to get better ping i get around 15 to 40 ping in most of the video games i play. when i had shaw i was getting around 30 to 60 ping in my video games. the tbaytel plan i have is the fibre 400 mbps download and 200 mbps upload.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have had tbaytel for internet for a few years now...and I can't wait to switch away from them. I have the highest speed available in my part of town (high speed max),and it's constantly slow and all over the place. Goes out all the time too. Have called their tech support multiple times and nothing works. I just want to be able to game at the same time as my husband streams a tv show. And I'm paying almost a hundred a month for this?!?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The very definition of false advertising and inconsistent often times one dedicated wired connection can’t even provide half the advertised speed I pay for. After 10 plus years of experience with this utter frustration it’s become clear like most ISP tbaytel utterly fails to do anything except lie and line their pockets with false promises. It’s incredibly difficult to be below average in such a ethically devoid industry but tbay tel manages to achieve just that.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Horrible customer service and troubleshooting. I have been having internet issues for over a year. Every time I call they have a different excuse and it’s never on their end. Spent close to $1000 on new routers and it never changes anything. Recently they have come to the conclusion that they can not actually provide the service I have been paying for. Oh wait get another phone call a few days later maybe we can actually provide it but we will have to look into it.I have spent countless hours on the phone with tech support. Can’t wait for my Starlink to arrive.
