Edit: went back for the first time "after COVID", was pleasantly surprised at how well they were able to keep up with the dinner service with the small staff that they had! There was one tiny mistake with the order, but I couldn't hold it against them as the food quality was amazing and came out in a timely fashion especially given the 2 (but mostly 1) server they had for all the people in there.
This place definitely doesn't get the hype that a lot of other places in the area do, but definitely deserve the praise. Never a bad meal, great presentation, friendly attentive service, and great value! ?

β β β β β The taste probably rank at B+ but taking the price point into consideration I'd probably rank this restaurant a C-. Hasting Roll and Sushi Pizza are the only two item I might consider reordering.
They torched their Magic Tuna Roll afterwards which gave it a bit of burnt taste, and I don't know why their deep fried maki needs torching to begin with. I suspect they're not experienced enough to fry their sushi roll properly and have to resort to torching it afterward because it was undercooked.
Another testament to the is their fried chicken. I took the picture after I'm done not because it was too good but because it was too mediocre, I really don't think it was worth taking a picture so instead pretend there are a few pieces of fried chicken in the photo, it really wouldn't make much difference because I'd choose KFC or McNuggets over this sorry excuse dried up serving of chicken karaage.
In short. Based on my experience with my order, I wouldn't recommend this place and I probably won't eat here again. As of this writing, I'd recommend Sushi Taku over this place.

β β β β β Fresh ingredients and very nicely plated. Must try the inari pocket! The portion was generous and delicious β€οΈ The staff and chef were extremely friendly. We were hungry and ordered too much to eat but was happy to have the leftovers for a second meal ? there were plenty of pics of the menu items around the restaurant so it's easy to see what you would want.

β β β β β Friendly, quality service in a super clean little shop. All the fish was fantastic, especially the yellowtail and salmon belly. Really good prices, nigiri was huge.

β β β β β There's many good sushi restaurants in Burnaby and this is another one. Nothing I had was amazing but was good value and good flavour.
I was nervous getting one of the box dinners as there's a few things I know I don't like and it listed chef's choice. My friend got it and I would try it if I go here again. It had multiple cuts of salmon and tuna nigiri, as well as some other fish.
I tried the Boston roll Maki, stuffed inari, and saba nigiri. I'd never heard of a Boston before and liked it; lots of crunch. The Inari pocket with ceab meat was huge; I took 4 big bites to eat it. The saba was lightly picked. I enjoy a strong pickled flavour; this was nice too.
