What's the best I can say about this? Better than mall sushi, but not by much. I stood at the front for almost 5 minutes before someone even acknowledged me. I was sat down and given the tablet, but they didn't bother taking my drink order. When I was eventually able to get their attention, I was served with flat, warm Coke. So warm that the ice melted in just a few minutes. The sushi came out fairly quick. I came for lunch so the choices were far from plentiful. The handroll salmon was good, but had way too much rice and Avocado. The best was the bbq eal sushi. I would not bother wasting your time or money here. Spend an extra 10 minutes and drive to another sushi restaurant where you will leave satisfied and happy.

The worst AYCE sushi I’ve ever had. We were sat at the back where the all the plates, glasses and β€œextras” were all laid out, super unorganized, and really didn’t feel like we were out to eat. 2/3 people asked for drinks that never came, but they remembered to tell us no free refills. The apps (dumplings, wonton soup, tempura) were cold, didn’t taste fresh at all. The sushi was ok. Overall experience was not good at all from start to finish. Would not go back & certainly would not recommend

I used to go to Sushi 99 once a week, every week pre-Covid. I continued to order takeout throughout lockdowns, but the quality and care has been declining for a while now. The sushi rice is often over-seasoned, to the point the point where it tastes very vinegary. The rice is always hot too, which is unpleasant. The salmon sashimi lately has been very hit or miss. Some days it’s great, while others it has a very fishy taste (which fresh salmon shouldn’t have), and is badly cleaned (bones and scales in the sashimi pieces). The staff rarely clear empty plates causing a mountain of dishes at the end of our table, and despite asking for more water we waited 10 minutes in an empty dining room before we needed to ask again in order to get a room temperature refill. The overall atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. The lights are dim, the benches have torn and tattered seats, the entire side of the restaurant is treated as storage with fridges and supplies stacked everywhere and the lobby is used to store broken Christmas decorations. While the price point was always reasonable, I was surprised to see a price increase given the deep decline in experience. Given the price now, it makes more sense to go elsewhere, where the quality is consistently top-notch. Overall, I am really disappointed to see the drastic decline in quality and care at Sushi 99. I’m hoping they can correct this and return to their previous state.

Used to be my go to in university. Went today and will not be back. Sat us in a spot that was kind of in the back. Kept bringing food without clearing plates so we hand to stack and make space. Ordered a tea and the server walks away before taking the rest of the tables’ order. Flagged him down and ordered the rest of the drinks. Only water came and we had to asked for it to be refilled, never got the tea or other drinks. Food quality was awful, tempura was soft and soggy, everything tasted stale/ old. 1 star because Mango ice cream was good. Stay away from this place.

Ownership has changed hands here again and the staff are awesome. I have found in my last few visits that the freshness of the food has really improved. We went for Sunday lunch here and the salmon sashimi just melted in your mouth. Everything was prepared correctly and came quickly.

Sushi 99 was a delicious. Not many sushi places were open for dine in but Sushi 99 was. the food was hot and fresh and came quickly to the table they have an all you can eat and a regular menu. the food was as described and matched pictures. server was friendly. prices weren't to expensive. I throughly enjoyed my visit. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a good sushi place in Kitchener Ontario. If you haven't tried sushi do not worry a place like this offers more than just sushi, they have steak, salmon, rice bowls, salads ,soups. so even if your friend or SO likes sushi and your not sure you can still give this place a try

Gah... I ordered from Sushi 99 because my regular sushi place is closed on Mondays and I had a craving. The sashimi (salmon) was okay. I was expecting thicker slices, but that's okay. The rolls are rolled poorly, they have too much rice and the portions inside the roll are small. I ordered the beef short ribs... They were horrible. They were super fatty and the sauce they were bathed in was very very greasy. The salad was in the same container as the beef and was soggy and not edible. Overall... I am disappointed with the quality of the meal and would not recommend to eat here, as there are better sushi places around (just not on Mondays).

Went with a friend. Wasn't overly busy but food came slowly. The special rolls were made well, not falling apart when you pick them up, not too small and not too big. Ordered ice cream at the very end but it never came despite waiting over 20 minutes for it.
