My Story
After spending most of my life in the beauty industry, 42 yrs as a full time hairdresser , and not surprising at all that my knees had taken the brunt of my job along with carpel tunnel and a blown rotator cup , I had come to a conclusion that the industry that I loved the most was coming to a slow end .
But what does one do when he dedicated a life time to one industry.?
Suddenly I’m faced with being in my early 50s and out of a job , possibly.
Well , other than hair , I love the outdoors, not necessarily hunting,fishing but everything about the outdoors.
So here I am in a dilemma.
Lucky for me , my relative in Toronto has an army surplus wholesale business .
Along with his advise and direction, I taken the challenge of starting my own store.
There’s was always a love for army gear which is practical in the outdoors, not to mention warm and functional .
So in May 2013 I opened Surplus and More . It was a dream come true . We carry surplus military gear and clothing from all over the world such as Austria, Bulgaria , Italy ,Polish , Germany United States and of course Canada .
Along with clothing and camping gear , rain gear , we also carry Muck boots .100% waterproof boots made from neoprene .
And that’s just to mention a few .
At this point I service most of the lakehead area but also surrounding areas . Soon I will be starting my website https://surplusarmyandmore.com/ and we will be able to shop and purchase on line .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited the store Feb 28th....it's like ya die and wake up in camo heaven!!! Check out their Army..Navy and Airforce clothing. A great selection...really good prices and a super cool owner/manager to help out with your decision. I highly recommend this store and will revisit often!!

I have now left 3 messages and am beginning to wonder how important the customers really are to the staff, management, and/or the owner(s) of this establishment. I am not impressed, to say the least.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This store sells broken and damaged old soviet gas masks and filters that contain asbestos, broken down particles with chromium, etc. Not very safe to human health. There is low selection and variety, unless you are extremely small or large. Overpriced items. Seems everything is double or triple the price. Shop online at other Canadian surplus sites. I'd only recommend this if the price was right, but it seems people in Thunder Bay don't seem to understand there are better options.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great store honestly. The 1 star rating doesnt take into account you need to wait for items to come in when you need them right away. Keep businesses local thunder bay. Its well worth the trip down here. Ive purchased many items from this store. Including but not limited to mre's, tac belts, combat fatigues, etc. If you dont support businesses locally more people will be unemployed. The staff here is great and very knowledgable. Support local support your families. Dont be ignorant and shop online.

The army raincoats and pants are extremely good. i have two sets for fishing and hunting. keep you completely dry in pouring rain. Muck boot dealer as well with lots of selection. para chord and other awesome bush supplies.
