I trust the coaches with my sons and love the manner in which they coach and mentor them. During the lock down, Prof Spencer reached out to all the members, encouraging and offering his help in any way needed. Despite the financial impact the lock down had on the academy, Prof Spencer put the members first and graciously allowed for cancellation of memberships. Sub Arts is more than just a place to train jiu jitsu, it's a community of great and inspiring people.

Spencer and the team/members are an outstanding group of people. I initially had some reservations and insecurities as upon joining I was returning from a really long layoff. These insecurities dissolved instantly as the members are amongst the nicest easy going people you will ever meet! If you are looking for a BJJ academy in Barrie whether you are a competitor or a hobbyist enthusiast, Submission Arts Academy IS THE PLACE.

This academy is the "Cheers" of martial arts schools in the City of Barrie. I have been training at Submission Arts Academy since 2016 and I can't speak highly enough of Professor Spencer and the learning environment he has fostered. Spencer shows a genuine interests in his students and is just a great person. This has allowed him to create an amazing training atmosphere that I have not experienced at any other martial arts club. Now go train!

I enjoy the challenge and exercise that these classes bring every week. During the quarantine shutdown Spencer worked hard at putting online/virtual lessons to help us stay motivated. He encouraged everyone to stay connected and check-in with eachother to get through the harder times. He's a fantastic instructor and demonstrates great leadership. Everyday I show up it is clean and organized. All instructors are always professional and welcoming. I can't wait to get back in there soon.

Professor Spencer has diverse team of Professors and coaches -men and women who each offer their amazing skills to each of our levels. There are many classes at different times to suit your day time or evening preferences. The kids program is fun and my son has implemented his skills to defend himself when attacked at school. The club is clean, well organized, and feels like a second family. I highly recommend you train at Submission Arts Academy to gain confidence, strength, and skills in an ego-free and friendly setting.

Professor Spencer has built a positive community of coaches and members that can learn an amazing sport in a safe place. Everyone is supportive of each other and has willingness to help new members with confidence and technique. Being only a year into this sport, I have seen my skill improve greatly, have increase my fitness levels and have built strong friendships. I would highly recommend joining Submission Arts Academy to anyone.
