I like my doctor, but the receptionist I met wasn't exactly the friendly type. I went there for my appointment in the afternoon, and I was the only patient at that moment. I didn't realize I needed to take a number and wait to be called to register myself or to rebook another appointment with my doc. I went up there when she was available, she told me to take the number and wait to get called next time. No magic words like 'please, thank you' were used in her request. Her tone to me was a bit condescending like a parent/teacher disciplines kids. I would expect a very helpful and compassionate person to take the reception job at a medical centre. That seems more appropriate and professional.

I've been going here for 20+ years. The doctors and admin staff here have always been very pleasant and accommodating. This coming week I have decided to check out their Dental Services. If the dental staff are as good as the medical staff I'm sure it will be just as pleasant an experience. UPDATE: Dental Centre is not as friendly nor honest with clients as expected. My appt. missed due to staff going home to eagerly on a Friday I was 6 minutes late due to train. I've had to wait on them longer. My time is worth less than theirs?) A voicemail message was left for saying will not be able to provide service as 1st Canadian Health Insurance won't cover their services. I was not given a proper explanation other than what they left on the answering service. If that's the way they are with their clientele I'd rather not use them anyway. A shame since I've been a client of the Medical Centre for over 20 years. UPDATE: I'm feeling like all these years of loyalty to this office is in vane. I feel like it's time for a change. I'm tired of having to see someone different every visit, having to go over everything again before they can make a guess at what my problem is.

Dr. Laura Lyons and ALL of her staff are outstanding. David (the receptionist) is amazing. He's friendly and efficient. Heather is always on top of things. Dr. Lyons delivered both my daughters. The second I heard her heels clicking towards me down the hallway...an instant wave of relief consumed me. She really is THE BABY WHISPERER when it comes to delivering babies... She's been our family doctor since day 1 and will remain our doctor until she retires.

Horrible place. No one here cares about you. No followup calls. They don't listen to you. I've never seen my actual doctor and seen a different resident EVERY SINGLE TIME I'VE VISITED. I have to start from scratch with a new student, that pretends to know what they are talking about every single time. I have to beg for any sort of simple referral, and none of their referrals have been to the proper specialist.

My family has been going to this family doctor clinic for well over 35 years. Sadly, since Dr Schmidt left, our experience has been much worse. You have the pay for parking. The receptionist lacks care and is unfriendly. I have been several times and I have never felt a warm welcome from her. Because this is a teaching clinic, we see a different doctor every time and rarely see Dr Chan himself. But, the most frustrating thing, is the wait times. I have not booked an appointment here in the last 7 years and NOT waited at LEAST 30 minutes. As I write this, I have been waiting for 35 minutes for an appointment. It’s unbelievably bad service. We are actively searching for a new doctor.

Really frustrating to be a patient of this medical centre. I need a prescription refill for a recurring infection, but was told I must have an in-person test again before getting the refill. Frustrating, but fair enough. I'm told I'll be contacted within 2 days with the results, but haven't heard back over a week later (even after follow up calls). I took time off work to take that extremely unpleasant test, is it so much to ask they take a few minutes to share my results with me? I'm not one to send a 1-star after 1 bad experience, but this isn't the first time I've be given the silent treatment from the St. Joseph's Family Medical Center. They've completely ignored both personal calls (and pharmacy calls) for days before when I've needed an anti-epileptic refill, until it was too late and I had seizures. While the staff themselves are pleasant in-person, patient follow-up ranges from poor to straight-up ignoring patients. Not a great representation of Canada's health care system. (Male receptionist is friendly though)

AWFUL. Do not care about patients at all. I tried to book an appointment to get a prescription refill and the receptionist was extremely rude and I ended up having a panic attack. I can’t find the courage to even call to be removed as a patient so I can find a dr that actually treats me with respect.

Dr hameed is honestly the worst doctor. She never sees her patients. Every visit is a different student who doesn’t know what they are talking about so patients get miss diagnosed or just blown off. So things are missed completely. For example cancer and thyroid disease!! How ridiculous. You can never get a visit. And when you do no one takes you seriously. I would suggest not going to her or this clinic and try to find a real family doctor who practices properly and takes care of their patients.
