We've been trying to adopt a puppy for 3 months now , but everytime we tried and make an appointment by phone, they tell us to send an email. But , I figured this is a trick , because we never gotten an email. Please tell us how to adopt from your location? Or maybe just be honest and tell us you down want us to adopt from your shelter. either way a little clarity would be nice. Thank you! Update , after months of frustration , we've unfortunately stop trying to adopt only because it's heartbreaking to have our hearts set out on a puppy , just to get overlook time after time.

Got my cat here a few years ago and I am very happy to support a no-kill shelter. My cat had been at the shelter for over a year when I adopted him. The lady at the front desk brought me into the cat room, pointed at his cage and left, so I was just alone in a room full of cats in cages which was awkward- I didn't know if I could just open the door and pick him up or what. I went back out and asked and she said I could pick up whatever cat I wanted (which felt weird cause I could have easily opened all the cat cages without knowing their personalities). I hope that the cat adoption process has become more refined since then. The actual adoption was very easy, and they even took a cute "family picture"

I was in search of a dog and I decided to go to the Gatineau SPCA. The people there are extremely helpful and sweet to the animals, however the system of first come first serve seems sort of flawed. I'm glad however that one of the girls who allowed me to adopt Marley (former Jaffar) made sure that she met the people in the household to ensure he'll be happy.

I e-mailed in May asking about the adoption process, whether all adoptables were posted on their site and what the procedure was. All questions were ignored and the only response I got was "We presently have no animals available for adoption". It's now almost August and still no adoptables on their website. That's fine, it happens, but then why can't anyone answer the phone? I just tried calling, doesn't matter which number you press. If you choose an operator, or reporting a lost pet, or trying to adopt, you are sent through to voicemail regardless. Years ago we adopted a dog there and had a good experience at first so that's what nets the 1 star. The SPCA website says their services offered are: Adoption Stray Animals Microchip (Double check this! Two dogs adopted from here have not had microchips that we have discovered) Boarding Deceased Animal Disposal But you can't actually reach them to do any of those things.

The staff was very friendly and it was very evident that they cared for our furbaby! Her name at the SPCA was Keisha (and now is named Mia). Before we took her home, some volunteers hugged her and it was clear that Mia had formed some connections with them! They made sure that she would be a good fit for our family. The adoption process was very straight forward.

The staff was great, asked us a few questions, showed us some pictures of their dogs and we fell in love with Romeo, a Husky mix rescued from a shelter in Kentucky. This dog is very loving and Mr. Personality. We had a very good experience there and would recommend it to others!

Staff is nice, we adopted a beautiful grey tabby named Pence in October 2020. He was diagnose with FIP and passed away yesterday. We only had him for under 4 months, but we got very attached to him. He was very affectionate and playful. Rest in peace little fur ball.

We've adopted two furbabies from this location and have been extremely happy with the process. The staff are great and always allow us ample time for meet and greets to ensure the various animals are compatible. They are eager to answer questions and you can see the love they have for their rescues. The place is more costly to adopt from than other rescues, but they are working on getting back their own shelter. We are fortunate to have a place that's doing so much for these animals. I can't wait to see their new location once it's built.
