The Emergency staff are an absolute joke at this hospital. They are more concerned with talking about their social life than perform work. The centre work pod is more like a playground for these workers. Read the reviews and you’ll instantly see the main grievance of past patients is nurse behaviour. Spoke with a Manager to tell my experience. They claim it will be looked into. Whatever - they won’t even be spoke to - the union environment ensures that. I left and drove to Orillia to see professionals. AVOID THiS SHAM of a Health Centre

I'm writing this just 12 hours after being discharged from recovery at South Muskoka because I have to share how great of an experience I had here (also because I can't sleep lol). I went in around 9am on a Wednesday with what I was pretty sure was an abscessed cyst and a low grade fever, painful and very uncomfortable. I interacted with probably 10 staff members overall, mostly nurses, an ultrasound technician and later on my surgeon and anaesthetist + surgery team, and all were so pleasant and informative. I wish I could remember all of their names! I was the only patient in intake at the time and from the time I came in to the time I was in a bed was less than an hour. I ended up being there a while overall but my case was a bit complicated and I was never alone without info for more than 20 minutes. It was made sure that I was comfortable at all times. I'm used to Toronto hospitals and this was such a breath of fresh air. I ended up having to go under for surgery which I didn't expect going in, but I was so confident that I was going to be well taken care of that I was never too anxious, even having never been put under anesthesia prior. All went well and Dr. Gupta performed my surgery, he was great and I'm just so thankful for all of the staff here for making my first ever surgery experience a really positive one. I wasn't even sure about going to an ER for the issue but I am so so glad that I did. Thank you all!!!

I had a snowmobile accident and was ejected from my sled. From the beginning, the ambulance attendants (Rami) took great care of me. I was brought into ER and right away Tara a nurse helped me remove my heavy gear and provided me with a warm blanket. I was brought into xray by a lovely technician and they were gentle in taking xrays to check for a broken pelvis. Thank God no broken bones! Dr Jani ( not sure of spelling) did an ultrasound to check for internal bleeding. She was very thorough, professional and patient. I ended up with a severe contusion on my hip.Another nurse helped me out of bed and walked me to the front door. I was able to walk out of ER with crutches. I was lucky that it took approximately 4hrs. Pretty fast for ER. I Expected to be there all night. I am so grateful to all the staff for taking great care of me that day! Sorry that I can’t remember all of your names. Your job is not easy and I am grateful and much appreciate all of your help in a time of need. ??❀️ Thank You so much!!!

Long story- for anyone that cares or wants a long read ? but I have been feeling generally unwell for quite some time now. Hot/cold flashes, nausea, vision troubles etc etc. So on Saturday night I drove myself to Orillia hospital because I was feeling even more unwell and having severe pain in my tail bone which is something I’ve never felt and I did not take a fall or have an injury. I ended up waiting for about 6 hours for a doctor to see me. Which is fair the hospitals are so busy and I know they use priority sequence so if I wasn’t being seen someone else who need it it more was. But when he finally did get to me, he talked over me and was not interested in what I had to say. He ran no scans or tests and sent me away saying it was probably just a injury from the gym and to give it a rest, Ice my bum lol and to rest take Tylenol and Advil and if after doing all that then I could follow up with my family Dr. or fo back to ER on Wednesday. I begged him to consider other possibilities and asked him to feel a spot that was very painful and slightly swollen but he was not interested in doing more tests or having a second look, so I went home and followed his orders. Fast forward to last night the 4th (my official Birthday) around midnight when I started vomiting and heaving worse than anything I’ve seen before. It went on for about 5 hours and I told myself it was from all the Tylenol and Advil I’ve been taking could have upset my stomach. Until about 5am I had no choice but to wake Mike up and ask him to call me an ambulance, even tho I drove myself to Orillia the night before I physically now could not drive up the hill to Bracebridge hospitals Thank god I made it here when I did and listened to my body instead of the doctor from Orillia . My body has been trying to tell me something was very wrong for a long time. I cannot stress this enough. Listen to your body and advocate for yourself and your healthcare. My birthday consisted of me being poked with needles like a pin cushion, had an ultrasound and my first every cat scan done. It was a very scary and intense day for me. I’ve finally got the answers I’ve been looking for and am all fixed up now. I had a very large internal abscess (that you could not see with the naked eye- but I swear I could feel it with my hand)a the abscess had burst and was leaking into me and causing me to go SEPTIC. Dr. Reid was absolutely amazing and literally saved my life and my babies Moms life yesterday. She said she could not believe I survived that long in that pain and that if I waiting till Wednesday like the DR. In Orillia ER things could have turned lit very differently and I could have Died. I am beyond thankful for the compassionate and caring staff at SMMH the who looked after me today. I still can’t decide if it was the worst birthday or the best birthday because they literally saved my life. Just wanted to say thank you all and Im really glad none of you will be attending my funeral too soon. Also wanted to tell you all to listen to your gut feeling and me we ignore something when you think it’s not right, and advocate for you self and your healthcare until you get the proper answers.

Took our baby to the ER tonight. We were in and out in under an hour. The lady working the check in desk was so sweet, cooing over our baby even though she was sick. She offered to watch our stroller for us so we didn’t have to wheel it around. The lady working the Switchboard was lovely and personable even at 11pm. Dr. McGregor was kind, patient, and explained everything to us with compassion. The nurse Michelle was excellent, too. Dr. McGregor invited us back in the morning for a weigh in. Great small-town service that makes us grateful to live in Bracebridge.

We were both born at the hospital, as were our children. Over the years, I had complicated inguinal hernia surgery - a pleasure to not have to go all the way to Shouldice - and my wife had an emergency Caesarian with our third baby. Two of our children also had surgeries there. The above services were as professional and well-run as I would think they could be. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that the ER has at times kept us in lengthy waits.

An absolute joke. Waited hours to see the doctor. Staff in the centre not doing any work only chatting about their social life. Security guard not doing his job. Sat chatting away like it’s a coffee break. He seemed more interested in the nurses personal life’s than doing his job. Pathetic to say the least. Three people in the waiting area yet it took hours to be seen.

I was given excellent care in emergency by the Drs, all the nurses were kind and thoughtful. The blood technician was fast and had no problem getting my difficult veins. The ultrasound technician was kind and professional. The room was clean and they brought me warm blankets. Durning a stressful time and managing through a pandemic the staff did a great job. I am thankful for their care and the time they all took with me to make sure I was ok. There was also follow up which was very much appreciated.
