About Manitoulin Health Centre - Little Current Hospital

Inpatient Physiotherapy

The Manitoulin Health Centre Physiotherapy Department takes a patient-centered, senior friendly approach in the provision of inpatient care. As many of our inpatients are seniors over the age of 65, the Physiotherapy Department’s role is to ensure that these patients are assessed and provided with an opportunity to remain active and mobile during their admission. Upon discharge, the Physiotherapy staff also assess the patient’s homecare needs. This ensures a smooth transition home, with greater success.

Out-patient Physiotherapy

Our staff are trained to perform comprehensive orthopedic assessments to determine your candidacy for surgical intervention or to guide you through other appropriate treatment recommendations.

Consultations may be arranged with our visiting orthopedic surgeons, during their monthly outreach clinics. Participants with X-ray findings of mild to severe hip osteoarthritis may be referred by their primary care provider. The program is offered 2x/week for 8 weeks in four communities throughout Manitoulin Island, sponsored by the Family Health Teams and First Nation Partners.

I had strep throat and they were fast and efficient, I only had to wait a few minutes before I was seen, and the doctor thoroughly assessed my condition and wrote a prescription. It gave me enough time to stop at the pharmacy before it closed.

Great small town hospital with good services and friendly staff. This hospital has a walk-in clinic, doctors offices, emergency department, physiotherapy, imaging services, obstetrics, optometry, minor operations (scopes mostly), dialysis, acute care, and prenatal care. Wait times are generally short, doctors are well trained with a good bedside manor, and nurses are caring. I don't spend much time here luckily, but it is a solid hospital when I do. There is also emergency helicopter transportation for really serious incidents.

If you are a person of colour they will ignore you for hours and let you be in pain. The worst hospital with the worse Drs, and nursing team. Take the drive to HSN to get better care. I have waited in an empty hospital rooms for hours waiting on Drs to come in when they do not stay the night. (Why is it a 24 hour hospital when they only have drs in during 7am to 12 pm that’s 7 hours without drs and the nurses refuse to call them in. I once waited 6 hours while overdosing on medication (they gave me the wrong dosage) because they refused to call the dr in to do anything. When I came in unable to walk I was called an attention seeker, by the Dr and he completely ignored my health refused to do a physical exam or anything. I have a rare spinal defect that I was born with and he said that was lie I didn’t. When my neurosurgeon found the issue during my surgery, to be called a lair and attention seeker was awful. I will do everything to make sure I am able to file a formal complaint against that dr. People like these doctors here should not be practicing with their lack of ability of any knowledge. If you have any type of rare disorder or mental health issues they will out right ignore you. They also do not follow DNR (thanks Dr Barrs for starting CPR when I have a DNR) than proceeded to yell at me, and trying to treat my mental illness outside of the psychiatrist job (the psychiatrist got very mad at the drs and nurses for what they did. They stopped all of my mental health medications and left me to withdrawal from them) Seriously this hospital should be shut down, it’s just an awful hospital. 10/10 I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL. Go else for better care, go here you will end up traumatized from your visit
