★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Everyone always has a smile on their face, and the professionalism and cleanliness is exactly what I would expect at a dental office. My regular hygienist is always chatty making the experience more enjoyable.
They are gentle when scaling and giving freezing, two of my least favourite things. I definitely recommend South Family Dental to anyone looking.

We recommended this clinic to our parents from BC as well and they had a wonderful experience. We will be taking our daughter once she is old enough here as well.

I agreed to update my initial review, as they did make a solid attempt to make my experience better.
Once I spoke with the Office Manager (as you see below), I did feel heard. I do feel it's important to note that it's up to the dentist and to the assistants to make sure that happens in the moment - when someone walks in who is clearly in pain, and says that the pain kept them up all night.
Ask about the pain.
Listen to the client.
And the client wont' be at their best - they've been up all night. In pain.
And then don't just book them in to a surgery without telling them how much it will probably cost, and get them out the door as quickly as possible.
Saturday's appointment with the oral surgeon was better - in that it was the expected experience to the dentist. Everyone was professional, and I really appreciated that I wasn't treated as a "special" case. The surgeon followed up, as promised.
I'll give them a 4, as they did really work to rectify the original experience. But that first experience remains with me, and I really hope it doesn't happen to anybody else in the future.

UPDATE: 2 DAYS LATER... (Feb 2 2022)
The office manager did call me back, yesterday. She did go through each of my concerns, and is trying to make it better. Now that someone has actually had a conversation with me, I feel heard and better understood. We shall see how the follow-up goes. At least the service is better enough that I am willing to go back to finish this transaction.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was scheduled for a regular cleaning and check up (my first with this clinic) but I injured my jaw a few weeks beforehand. They worked with me to help me keep my cleaning for the day I had scheduled (used a spacer to help me rest my jaw) and were so helpful with recommendations and referrals so that I can get better soon! The staff were friendly and professional and both quick and thorough. It was close to home which is why I picked them but I’m so glad I did!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It had been about a decade since I visited a dentist, and I truly appreciate the time and care that was put into my cleaning/initial assessment. I subsequently had a couple of cavities filled, and I'm quite satisfied with the results, and also how quickly everything was done. As advertised, South Family Dental follows the Alberta Fee guideline, and they handled billing directly with my insurance. I was pleasantly surprised that by the time I was finished with both visits, the front desk staff had already resolved the coverage with my insurance, and I left knowing exactly what was covered and the bill settled. All around, I've had a very good experience with South Family Dental, and I would definitely recommend them to others.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went today to do my hygiene appointment after almost a year after. My hygienist Kerry was so thorough and patient in cleaning my teeth. Was kind and gentle during the process. I am so delighted with the result I feel so clean. And the reception staff were so nice and accommodating booking us for the next appointment. I will for sure recommend this dental office to all my friends and colleagues. See you after 6 months?
