Overcooked fries made it hard for a plastic fork to penetrate them most of the time. Red peppers were slimy and cold and the cheese was nowhere near melting point. There were not nearly enough toppings and I was left with a pile of overpriced crispy fry daggers. If the food was cheaper, maybe this would be justified but there was so much hype around this place and I am severely disappointed. Probably won't go again. If you are thinking of going here, get gravy on it because most of the flavour options are extremely dry and don't always have a sauce. EDIT: Thanks for letting me know I can ask the staff to redo my order but I don't think I will considering the customer service I got when ordering it the first time. I was communicated with via grunts and five or less actual words. Not only do I love eating food, but I am an adult who has owned bell peppers before as they are a common grocery store item. I know their moisture content, which is why I did not use that term to describe their SLIMY nature. I know how the food is prepared, and I am insulted that the assumption was made that my experience was due to my own uneducated misconception and not the potential bacteria that produced the slimy texture of my food.

You lost hundreds of dollars tonight. Management should be very disappointed with that. Open until 3am show up st 2:30 and we were told they're closed due to covid. A large group of clients about 20 people. We were refused service.

I am New to Saskatoon. Bought 2 large with nothing on and when I got to the hotel and starting to eat the fries a long string of hair came with that was a shock and tossed the rest in the garbage. That I was not expecting as I paid $20 for both large boxes. Won't go out to eat again or carry out.

Usually great food, was always amazed, until today, whom Evers making food in there is the worst! Didn’t put any gravy, fries were cold and dried out, had random chucks of burnt hard fries in it, not one curd was hot like they just came out the fridge and tossed in there, had potato skins in the bottom, worst food experience to date and that is low! I tried the wacky fries, same exact thing with real gross sauce just layed on the top, dry cold fries below, I order once a week, will hope someone gets fired before I order again, disgusting ?

We were at Rock the River that had ZERO SELECTION for food, we went for a walk and came across Smokes! The place was PACKED and Conner behind the counter was rocking it with a smile, and humor. Great food and amazing service!

Having been to, and enjoying, a different location of Smokes a few years ago, I figured I would try this one out. It was overall okay, leaning slightly towards unsatisfying. The cheese curds (one of the most important parts!) were rubbery to chew and didn't melt at all. The fries were okay, maybe slightly on the mushy side. The gravy had a nice balance of flavours and was notably "Montreal-style" as expected. And the portion size was generous, tightly packed into a small box. Overall, getting one part (curds) bad, one part (fries) okay-ish, and one part (gravy) slightly above-average makes me not really recommend this place. Maybe it's supply issues (the world is full of those right now) preventing quality ingredients, and quality will improve when they can get the good stuff. Or it could be cost-cutting killing quality.

This place is great for a heavy meal, after going around the downtown core for business, shopping and lots of bars around. Large servings and won't disappoint a poutine lover. A place to eat when you're from out of town as well.

The fundamentals executed well, the French fries we perfect, generous amount of squeaky cheese curds (authentic), ample sauce and served piping hot. Smokes does it well. The service was great, quick and genuine! Will definitely return.
