About Sky Story Bed and Breakfast

Diana Chabros (BFA, M.Ed) is a professional visual artist whose oil paintings focus on the land, ideas of reciprocity and humility. Having relocated from Regina to Val Marie, in 2012, a village on the cusp of Grasslands National Park, Diana documents, through paint, her dialogue with the area’s rich mix of cultures, stories, and resident beings. Moved by the power of the land, its subtle energy and sentience as a biological entity, she explores our interdependence with the land and the human impacts we confer upon her.

Informed by research and practice within the fields of Yoga, Buddhist and nehiyaw/Cree worldviews, she is careful to honour these traditions and her teachers. Her work has been exhibited at public galleries including the University of Regina Fifth Parallel Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Swift Current, the Mann Art Gallery, Shurniak Art Gallery, Elsie Scherle/Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre, alternative spaces across southern Saskatchewan, and in Kansas, USA. Her work can be found in both public and private collections including the Saskatchewan Arts Board and SaskPower, Val Marie as well as on her website dianachabros.com.

A cute restful B&B that serves up a wonderful breakfast! We were fortunate to also enjoy a yoga class that the artist owner hosted! A great place to stay if looking to visit the community of Val Marie and Grasslands National Park!

I stay at the sky story B&B with a friend for four nights in February 2019 to get a close base and overnight place to visit and explorer Grasslands National Park (west and east block). We stayed in β€œSky Roomβ€œ (two single beds) and beds are very comfortable and give a good rest after exploring the national park or go for the small riverside hike around the town. The breakfast is definitely a highlight at this B&B. Diana got every morning early up and prepare a super delicious und healthy breakfast from good ingredients. All in all we are really enjoy our stay at Diana’s B&B in the winter season.

We were treated very well by our host Diana. Visiting the park and area during the time of covid restrictions, she was not only a welcoming hostess but also a valuable advisor on where to go in the park. Breakfasts were delicious and the room and BR were spotless. If you are visiting Grasslands and not camping, this is an Excellent accommodation in Val Marie.

In September I was lucky to obtain a 5 night stay at Sky Story. Highly recommended! The location is excellent for visits to Grasslands National Park and surroundings. Your host, Diana, is attentive, friendly, helpful and willing to assist with whatever you need or would like information on. The rooms are upstairs on either side of the landing - clean and comfortable with the best duvets! The shared bathroom on the main floor was spotless every time - lots of clean towels and amenities. The vegan breakfasts were huge and delicious. Should you be allergic to cats, then remember to take your meds.
