Shoppers Drug Mart - Kelowna

Had a traumatic experience with the pharmasist and just want to let others know. If I was not in a good place in my life this would have thrown me back into negative head space. My son and I both take medications that are needed to be taken daily and if a dose is missed the withdrawals are disabling. I was getting my prescription refilled but my pharmacy didn't have the needed medication so they sent it to this pharmacy which had plenty. This pharmacy refused to fill our prescriptions and told me I would have to pay for the prescription to be sent to my pharmacy. She then proceeded to judge me as a parent and started attacking me verbally saying I wasn't a good parent and I need to be more on top of my meds...I am thats why I'm asking for a refill!? I understand people have bad days at work or are dealing with things in their personal life that come off as negative feedback to someone who doesn't deserve it but this was unacceptable. I told her I was a customer and just wanted my sons meds. I would recommend that she either gets a course in mental wellness and how to deal with her personal issues so they don't interfere with her work or some time off work to gather herself. After her verbal attack I went into a panic attack for 3 hours and it was debilitating. Thank goodness my parents live in town and they were able to call another shoppers to get it figured out so we didn't have to go without. I have had this happen before where my prescriptions weren't available at my pharmacy and had to pick up here, the male pharmasist assured me there was nothing to be anxious about and that it would never be a problem to get my refills, as I deal with social anxiety and I am fearful I will get turned down. After explaining this the male pharmacist was more than understanding and assured me I have nothing to worry about. So I'm not sure what happened honestly because it was such a debilitating expierence for me and I was unable to finish my studying that night as I am a full time student at UBCO.

Don't have to wait on on the phone long to speak to a pharmacist and my questions are always answered. This place is fairly large and stocked!

One of my favorite pharmacys I've used, the staff and pharmacists are all very helpful and really nice and understanding. They have never let me down and are fast to help me whenever I go there. Recommend to anyone local or visiting.

Last Thursday I visited the branch to pick a prescription up. Through a program I am part of I can pre-purchase electronic cards, and benefit. The employees who had never seen those cards, were not able to redeem them, and question their legitimacy. I did not pick my prescription up that night, but I called first thing in the morning. Emma, the store manager picked the phone. She was aware of the "accident" and clueless about the program. An hour later when I went to pick my prescription the girl who had just finished helping a customer asked the coworkers to call Emma. I guess she was working the night before, and recognized me. Emma, in the short time she had, had not found any information on how the other branch, even though they had updated machines, redeemed my card a month earlier. Still she gave it a try, and figured out right the way how to process the cards. It was a success! I was not expected the store manager will answer the phone. Emma is amazing, and knowledgeable. Thank you Emma, and the night shift employee(s)

Pharmacist questioned prescription from my family doctor! Then when they found out that they were in the wrong would still not prescribe to me. Rather they told me to take my business elsewhere. The pharmacist I spoke to has a god complex and it’s to bad because they used to be an awesome pharmacy. Pharmacists have to remember their job, they are not My Family Doctor!!!!

I had the nicest pharmacist assistant I think her name is Jeanie, she was so amazing on the phone and in person! She really showed she cared about professionalism, work ethic, and kindness. She was reassuring, prompt, and educated!

Went to have a prescription filled that had been called in by my doctor. The pharmacist said that I had gotten 12 pills a week ago and that they weren't giving me a refill. 1) They screwed up and only gave me 8 the first time. 2) My first set hadn't had a refill because it was a trial. 3) I am leaving in a few days and need the refill for when I am gone. I was absolutely mortified by this treatment. EDIT: Went in today and only had HALF my prescription. They ran my medical through totally wrong and told me my plan only covers 30 days of this medication (which is not for every day use.) I phone my medical and they said that everything is partially covered and that the pharmacist obviously didn't know what they were talking about. I will be getting the rest of my prescription and will NEVER use this pharmacy again. What a joke.
