Scissorworks and Company is an established hair solon in Calgary Alberta Canada, and has been in business since 1991. Scissorworks and Company spacializes in hair cuts, hair color, hair styling, corrective color and hair care product retail.
About Scissorworks and Company
The Scissorworks and Company story began 28 years ago in my parents’ living room. I was 23 years old and had been in the hair industry since I was 17.
I was ready for a change and so were a few of my fellow stylists.
I opened the doors on November 13, 1991, in our present location on Bonaventure Drive, in Calgary. I had envisioned running my own salon since I was a teenager.
My parents being entrepreneurs themselves, helped me a lot in the early years starting up and running my own business. I always believed that if I did something I loved, a career would never feel like work.
The salon opened with 6 stylists and 3 support staff. One of the original team still works alongside me today.
The salon has continued to grow each year, allowing me to envision changes to adapt to our clients’ needs and the hair industry. I have always felt ongoing education for the team, redecorating and remodelling the salon decor would keep our environment current and up to date.
I LOVE FRESH!!
The salon certainly has seen its share of “new looks” over the years, and I have always considered the amazing people I work with and, and the wonderful community of clients that visit my salon each year to be a blessing.
I am grateful for the synergy that is all around me and my team.
My philosophy has stayed constant since opening day. I believe if we, as a team give our highly valued clients more than they expect, always provide excellent customer service and maintain a purposeful energetic environment for our co-workers, Scissorworks and Company will continue to prosper.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely not professional ! They came up with own policies ...due to Covid. Which are not even recommended by the AHS nor by Dr Hinshaw or Dr Tam. That was harassment to me when young personnel try to take my body temperature without my consent. Without training and proper equipment they insist it's their policy ! Double standards for different clients.... At my first visit I was corrected how to wear face mask , I guess now they are experts in this field. Yet at the same time I was informed by a lady who cut my hair that do not worry, sometimes when there's only one client they don't require masks ?! They never cut my hair as per my request, I was just too polite to say something ! Not even mentioning price gouging !!!!! First visit : $ 37.80 , second visit $ 46.73 and last one $ 50.40 !!! My visits were regular every 5-6 weeks. That's for a 20 min men hair cut !!!!
NO WHERE ON ANY AHS PROTOCOL TESTING TEMPERATURE IS REQUIRED !!!!! TEMPERATURE IS PERSONAL VITAL SIGN AND IT'S ONLY TO BE TAKEN BY PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL STUFF , NOT FRONT DESK EMPLOYEE !!! BUT THERE IS A PROTOCOL FOR MASK EXEMTIONS !!! PLEASE GET YOUR INFO CORRECT !!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shelley delivered my home delivery colour kit today so that I can do my roots at home since the salon is closed because of Covid. What an awesome service! She called me when she arrived at my house and told me that she would be about 10 minutes because she mixed the colour right in her vehicle. She brought me everything I needed ... my specific colour that is already used in the salon that is mixed in a disposable container, applicator brush, gloves, shampoo, conditioner, instructions and a magazine! The day before, she emailed me a fabulous video of her on how to apply the colour at home! Not like getting my hair done in the salon but so much better than a store bought root touchup because the colour is what has already been used on my hair in the salon. Thank you Scissorworks!!! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Every one here is awesome, right down to the puppy with wash out pink hair! They gave me a really cool cut for the summer. Was a little pricey, but it was for my birthday so it's ok. The staff were super friendly and nice, gave me coffee and chocolate!! Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new stylish do. Great expertise!! :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been a customer for more than 20 years and though it's a bit pricey, I'll continue using Scissorworks. The staff is professional, under the guidance of Shelley, the owner. You definitely feel pampered but more important is competency. Annette is my current stylist and very talented. Two years ago, she helped me transition from colouring my grey roots to going natural. It took about a year and I couldn't be happier with the results, particularly the haircut/style... I get complements the moment I leave the salon! Many thanks!
