About Science Matters Daycare

When you send your children to daycare, you want to know they are receiving the benefits you signed them up for. At Science Matters, we believe in having open lines of communication with our parents. Once a week, we will email parents to let them know what their child is currently working on. The email will include what stories we are reading and the STEAM activities of the week. Twice a year, we offer the opportunity for parents to get together with the teachers and discuss their child’s progress.

In addition to the weekly email and teacher’s conferences, we also have a WhatsApp group for parent communication. Once connected, parents will be able to view pictures, receive important information, and communicate absences with the teachers.

Science Matters is such a great preschool. The amount of effort and attention that goes into the activities for the kids really shows just how much the owner and the teachers care about the children and their development. My kiddo is so happy at drop off he can't wait to get in the doors.

Our son loves going here. There are so many fun activities they do and he really enjoys the teachers. They seem to really care about the kids and are exposing them to so many different things. Highly recommended!

My daughter absolutely loves going here, she asks me everyday if she is going to preschool. The days she does go she is at the door ready before I am. I highly recommend this place. The teachers seem to care a lot about the kids and my daughter has learned so much.

I wanted so badly for this preschool to be great. I really had high hopes based on their promises. But sadly our experience was abysmal and has really affected my 3-year old's self confidence. It started with the director forgetting which month we were scheduled to begin (with deposit paid months in advance), and then making up excuses for her disorganization. Then the staff were not changing my child's pull-up, or taking her to the bathroom all day, and sending her home with a wet and dirty pull-up hanging off her. This only corrected after I took the initiative to suggest a schedule to ensure the kids were all being taken to the toilet regularly - parents should not have to tell a licensed preschool how to do their job. From there the staff were fully incapable of managing normal 3-year-old behaviour, like kids grabbing toys from one another and occasionally playing too roughly. After my child used the word "stupid" one time - and only once (picked up from a book) - they informed me that my child had "exhausted their resources". Other children were also hitting my child on a daily basis, but they labelled as the only "problem child", when in reality the teachers lacked basic classroom management skills and were exaggerating normal 3 year-old interactions. My child has attended other daycares since age 14 months old, and I have never once received a single note of concern from teachers about my child's behaviour prior to attending Science Matters.

Our toddler loves this preschool. Often she will ask to return to school right after I pick her up. The facility is bright and clean. There is access to an indoor gym area for hot and cold weather, an outdoor fenced play area with grass and play structures and a nearby community garden where the children can explore. There is lots of access to physical activity at this school. The teachers partner in our child's care and development. For example they helped to transition from high chair to table eating and help with potty training. The staff are kind, caring and conscientious. The children do learn at this school. Since attending, our child has learned to sing the alphabet and count to 20. The school makes a special effort to have theme days such as stampede breakfast, teddy bear picnic and movie day for example As well they take the time to appreciate the children by celebrating their birthdays with songs, snacks, a gift, and homemade cards. Overall, this is a great preschool and I would recommend this program to close friends and family.
