Our Story
Schinkel Properties was started in 1986 by Bob Schinkel. The company started out as a residential rental company and became a commercial leasing business after growing for several years. The recession in the 1980’s proved to be difficult for businesses across the country including Schinkel Properties. Despite the economic challenging times, the company did manage to add properties despite some high vacancy rates. During the 1990’s the company continued to grow and built the Days Inn in Steinbach in 2001. In the early 2000’s the company did several apartment and commercial projects while continuing to grow the property management department. Today the company manages over 1,200 condo units, 150 apartment units and 115,000 square feet of commercial real estate. Our sister company, The InnKeepers, manages 5 hotels in Manitoba.
The company remains a family run business, based in Steinbach, Manitoba with offices also in Winnipeg. Son Justin manages the hotel company and Evan Schinkel operates a construction company. The team’s mission is your success through genuine care. We truly believe that if we genuinely care for our team members and co-workers they will genuinely care for our clients, which will eventually lead to profits. We fully recognize that this is a lofty goal that will be continuously worked on throughout our lives.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Horrible service. I told the property manager Sabrina I was quarantine and yet she kept pushing to let her in. I even sent the documents that states my son had close contact.
There was another time when Sabrina sent a service person to a unit with a high risk tenant without any mask or gloves.
I would stay away from this business.
This company don't deserve a Star!!! More like a negative star.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They don't respond to issues, and I've had a particularly hard time with Ashley. When we lived on 265 Marcoux, there were a bunch of issues with the units (like if we used our microwave while using the washing machine, the circuits would short. that's just one of the small issues that took 8 months of our 12 month lease to be fixed). There's currently a mold problem in the homes and the company isn't considering health and safety. There have been consistent complaint from myself and multiple residents of this area. I've seen screenshots between residents and the property manager and they are extremely unprofessional and rude. There was frost coming in from our doors, and our screen door always fell off the track due to the frame being uneven. There was already foundational issues with the house within the first year of it being built.
The price for the value of what you're getting is rancid considering the price hike. There have been vehicle break in's, a fall that lead to death due to the sidewalks being neglected, and more that Schinkel has refused to provide camera footage to those affected, when those cameras were installed "for our safety".
If you choose Schinkel, beware. And if you live on the 265 lots... you know already.

Ashley spent time with us to review contract .very honest , polite and down to earth ! Even sat on floor with me. No chairs. Happy to rent from Schinkel
