We visited Sash for the first time ever with a small group of 6, for an intimate birthday celebration dinner. ✅ Service was exceptional! Our servers were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive; felt truly authentic. At the end of our meal, the Owner “Sash” spent time to speak with our group, bonding - over the trials and triumphs of being a restauranteur - with Bernard and Manon who also operate a charming little French restaurant in Whitby #NiceBistro. ✅ Ambience was elegant, well laid out and adorned by a beautifully lit Christmas tree. The window seats had an air of magic and romance, hugging against the curved floor-to-ceiling windows and overlooking the cityscape below. Our group sat at little more group-friendly layout, which was equally wonderful in its own way. ✅ Food.... was delicious. Every item we ordered was mouthwatering good, from the first to the very last bite. The aroma, flavours, colors, textures, presentation & plating... We started with a variety of appetizers; all of which were gobbled up - they were so good! For main I had the “Chilean Seabass with Madras Curry served with vegetable pakoras and fried okras” - what I can only describe as a delightful symphony of flavours, colours and textures that caress the tastebuds and sights. We also had few sides including one of the best tasting Risotto I’ve ever tasted. Finally finishing off with the most decadent yet light and fluffy serving of warm and freshly made “Chocolate Soufflé, accompanied by servings of milk chocolate and toffee sauces”. Even sweeter, to our surprise this dessert was “on the house” as a small treat for the birthday boy. I wish I had taken more photos but we ravished it all so quickly there was not enough time for photos. ? HIGHLY RECOMMEND ? ?

Sash, a new restaurant name after the chef, Sash Simpson, located in mid town Toronto. Valet parking is available for $15, and I believe it is the only way to park your car. The restaurant is at the second floor and separate into two sections, a dining area and open bar area. The dining area has a modern and warm design. Once we sat down, our waiter came quickly and introduced some special of the night. We did get the clam chowder soup (special feature of the night) and ahi tuna three way (regular menu) for starters. The clam chowder is creamy, and instead of chopped clam meat, the soup comes with 4 big pieces of fresh clam. The tuna three way is an art piece, beautifully presented. There are 3 different tastes of tuna, and comes with avocado to refresh my mouth after tasting each style of ahi tuna. For the main course, we ordered pan seared scallop (special of the night) and roasted lamb rack (regular menu). There are three large pieces of scallops, well seasoned, and cook perfectly. The lamb rack is juicy and tender, and it has a nice combine with the mint apple chutney. Finally, we had the souffle for dessert, however, it is so small when souffle was brought to our table. A little disappointment from the size of the souffle. Overall, i would come back to the second to try their other items from the menu.

I have now dined at Sash twice. Once pre-Covid and most recently this past Valentine's Day, and unfortunately both experiences have been disappointing. On my first visit, I have to concede that the meal was excellent. However it was ridiculously expensive and I was extremely fortunate to be a guest who was not paying. Most recently, on February 14th. 2022, my guest and I received an indifferent reception at best and for lack of a better description were then regally ripped off. Two average Steak Tartares at $36 each, to commence, followed by a far from fresh Dover Sole that my guest could not eat and returned. To give Sash credit they did not charge for the returned Sole and it's a good thing that they didn't, because I was absolutely shocked when I received my bill and discovered that the single portion had cost $120 ! More fool me, for not enquiring what MP (market price) was...but such larceny is beyond the pale, Covid or no Covid. And I cannot see how Sash can survive, charging such prices for their food and wine...viz a 5 oz glass of Chablis setting me back a mere $23, with a bargain 9 ozs offered at $45 ! Once bitten , twice shy, the adage goes. So I guess Covid has fogged my mind? But as I exited - $302.00 for 2 starters, one main course and a 5 oz glass of wine (incl. 18% tip), I made a mental note to not even chance a third strike.

Hugely disappointed in our evening at Sash. We had a lovely table by the window. Bread and water were delivered quickly but after that we just sat and waited. Our server was busy with a large table close to us. He was very attentive to them but basically ignored us. The food has gone downhill since the last time I was there. We had the foie gras, a pasta appetizer and the shrimp and dumplings for the main course. Everything was good but not great. The one thing I was I was truly looking forward to was their parmesan fries. They were delivered soggy. We sent them back and another order arrived with the parmesan on the side. Still soggy. I've had them before and in my opinion they were the best in the city! The server told us that the chef forgot to put soda water in with them. ??? They did give us complimentary onion rings which were quite good. But what has happened to the wonderful restaurant with the exquisite food and top notch service? I also realize that servers don't have to wear masks but I would have appreciated it if ours did.

Sash is truly the best of the best. From the quality service, to the gorgeous atmosphere/setting, and the truly incredible menu (both food and drinks). I will always recommend Sash to anyone looking for a fantastic lunch or dinner/night out.

Disappointed. Very poor staff/service. Food is quite good. All the dirty plates and cutlery were stacked right in front of my wife’s face, in her place setting before removal. We looked at each other and couldn’t believe it. . Ordered soufflé desert and server said he told us it was 40 minutes during his presentation. He did not. When we told him so, He just kept on insisting he thought he did and didn’t seem to care. We just left. My wife asked for her coat and was asked for her ticket. She was never given one. We can get great food and better service elsewhere and don’t feel the need to go back to Sash. For a higher end restaurant, they badly need to get their act together. Too bad as it was our anniversary.

Excellent dining experience every time. Order anything on the menu and I can bet you’ll enjoy it. The ambiance and interior design is also very refined which makes it perfect for both an intimate dinner or entertaining with friends.
