β β β β β I met Sam through our work together at Clayoquot Action in Tofino. Sam is a gifted conservation storyteller. She produced several kickin' videos for us featuring our research and actions. In addition to videography and editing, she is a talented photographer. Sam's warm personality can quickly put her subjects at ease, making for a great interview and photo shoot.

β β β β β Samantha is a gifted writer, photographer and videographer. I first met her when she spent 2 months at our remote whale research station. During this time is it was evident just how talented and motivated she was. She put together a short video on our work, and to this days it is still the most talked about and reviewed clip about our research. Sam was also there when we experienced the beaching of a young male orca. We were able to save the whale, the story was dynamic, and Sam captured this for us and quickly edited the footage that enabled us to share the story world wide. β β β β β Sam is a passionate, heart-centered, ethical conservation filmmaker. She is also extremely talented and creative! She created two films for songs that I wrote and produced. For the song "Another Shade," which is about the journey of a salmon back to its home waters, Sam collected footage from the surrounding waters and forests where she lives on Vancouver Island. I appreciated the cinematography of the beautiful footage. I was also very grateful for her messaging of the film with the acknowledgment that it was produced on the traditional territory of the YuuΕuΚiΕΚatαΈ₯ First Nation. For the second film, "I'll Show You the Night," which is about the love and preservation of the night sky, Sam wove together a beautiful narrative of time lapses of nature and of urban places to tell the story of conservation of the dark skies in an age of artificial light. Sam's editing skills were wonderful. She added artistic touches to her that made both films truly shine!
