★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was looking for a dependable, reliable agent who would help me navigate the treacherous bull market in Toronto. The agent I would have liked to have used was unavailable, but they introduced me to Cindy Nelander of Royal Lepage.
She seemed ok. Wasn't extremely knowledgeable about the area where I wanted to buy, but I looked passed it because time was tight and prices were only rising. We made an offer and got a lovely property that I selected from many units that I viewed. However, there was no real support through the process from our agent.
We missed out opportunities to negotiate because Nelander was preoccupied with other clients outside the city. She did not put sufficient time and energy into researching the MLS listings (which would have saved us thousands).
The offer and choice of unit is the buyer's responsibility, and that is forgivable. However, Nelander's abrasive personal nature and lack of people skills was a huge turn-off as our deal closed: She was rude to us, difficult to contact and failed to show up at scheduled appointments.
Royal LePage is still a good brokerage and I don't consider her actions indicative of how her colleagues would act. If a transaction was simple, I am sure Nelander would do fine, but if you are looking for an edge in negotiations or excellent treatment, I would utilize someone else.
