Easily the worst hardware store I've been to. On hold for 10 mins while I walked into the store to pick up the very item I was told an associate was checking into. Not the first time either Rona Cobourg, but it will be the last.

I don't know why this store carries the Rona name. Anything you see in the Rona flyer or on the Rona website may, or may not be in stock. Calling ahead to find out is pointless, as the system this store uses and the Rona system are two different systems. The system used in the store here is not compatible with Rona's product number, so calling over to see if something is in stock is a waste of your time and theirs. You either have to come and find what you need (if they have it), or go to the other store in Port Hope where everything jives. I don't know what other loyalty this Cobourg store has, and why they use a system that cannot be compatible with the stock numbers that Rona uses. Why even be associated with Rona, if you can't tell your (potential) customers that you do indeed have what they're looking for? I'm not driving 45min to hope you have what I need. A shot-in-the-dark was 40 years and more ago. Either upgrade your system to work with the Rona system, or take down the Rona flag/sign and fly someone else's name brand. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other name brands nearby that can tell you at a glance about stock and availability, and some of them are pretty competitive in pricing, too. Your staff is always nice to talk to on the phone, but how much revenue does that bring in, telling your callers that you can't tell them whether you carry certain items or not? Come on, get with the 90's and get in the game.

It’s 5:23pm right now… we got there at 5:10pm and they had the door closed and locked… lady came to the door and said we are closed. We still had 20 mins left till they closed… we didn’t even need lumber, just a couple things inside… but they opened the doors and said they were closed (very rudely) why open the door then? They aren’t closed till 5:30pm.

There's a young, female cashier who is competent. The guys in the yard always seem nice and helpful. Everybody else may as well be replaced with a rock with googly eyes glued to it. I hate this store. Every single time I actually need to go to it, it's an episode in complete frustration. The store itself is small and has an idiotic layout. The prices do not reflect any other Rona's that are close by. The people are pretty much useless. Today: I had purchased 10 sheets of 3/4" t&g plywood at Campbellford Rona two days ago for $62. Running errands in Cobourg and need 3 more sheets so go in and get a price. $94. Now, lumber prices have been all kinds of crazy over the past year, but a rise of 50% in 2 days would be a bit much. Simply curious as to why, I asked. Absolutely useless responses. Basically "I type in computer, computer says price, I say price to you". That's as far as their brains can function. A popular enough item that they should know if there was a big leap in price. Nothing. I may as well have been asking my questions to an old boot. I drove to Campbellford. $62. I told them I just came from Cobourg, and their prices were out to lunch and got a full explanation. Cobourg store is independent. Besides Rona branding, it does its own thing. Own system, own prices, suppliers... etc. So b/c their plywood is priced so high it's most likely not selling, just sitting there still at prices of four months ago. They adjust prices only once stock is sold and new stock gets new prices. Whereas almost all other HD, HH building supply stores adjust their lumber prices to the market... regardless of what's in stock. That's loco. It's loco not because that's how independent building supply places and lumber yards work... that's fine... it's loco because it's a Rona. Get rid of the Rona name on this store, it's only hurting the brand. Rona? More like Groana. Avoid this place at all costs. If it's your last resort... honestly, still avoid it and delay whatever you're doing and wait until another place has what you require.

Went into this store to buy 1,000 sq feet of vinyl flooring and a new kitchen . Lady at the front says the lady for kitchen is not in, we walked past 4 staff people having a visit . looked at flooring in the back for 10 minutes nobody asked us if we needed help we walked out . Very disappointed as the Rona store in Oshawa is excellent

Very poor service and selection of products. Prices too high. Eg shower pan liner $75.00, I payed $35.00 elsewhere. WOW big difference. Staff needs to be more welcoming acknowledging each person that walks into the store. That greeting goes a long way, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff generally have a great impact on your business. That's just my personal experience working in retail sales years ago.
