Located in Waterton National Park, Rocky Mountain General Store is the supplier of food, camping gear, and daily necessaries to the residents and visitors of Waterton Lakes National Park.
Layne and Stacey Cook opened the Waterton Subway in Waterton Park in 2004. In 2013, the Cooks pursued an opportunity to take over Rocky Mountain Foods. The changed the name of the store to the Rocky Mountain Grocery Store to reflect the expanded range of materials they offer. They relocated the Subway restaurant to be next door, and remodelled the store to provide seamless interior access to both locales.
Rocky Mountain Grocery Store has so much more than just food. They carry camping gear, axes and knives, and artwork by local photographers. Some of the food they carry is grown and crafted by the local Hutterite colonies. This store is a critical part of the Waterton community supplying the needs of residents, workers, campers, tourists, and all-comers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Life saver if you planned a last minute trip to Waterton but forgot to pack everything.
Ofcourse prices have a markup but reasonable considering its literally in a National Park in a tourist hot spot. If you think their prices are high - a quick check on real estate prices in the area will provide ample context.
We grabbed some eggs, bagels and butter so that we could make some brekkie the next am for our early morning hike. They stock some groceries as well as some fresh produce but think of it as a small corner store and manage expectations accordingly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great store with everything we needed. We were camping outside Waterton and used the General Store for groceries. We had to go back a second time to get the frozen pork chops again because they were so good. Very friendly people too.

While they didn't stock double sided tape here, she helped problem-solve by offering alternatives and making suggestions for other places on town to try. Great customer service!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great place with all sorts of essentials and a healthy quantity of nonessentials as well. And any self-respecting tourist knows how important those "nonessentials" can be. Souvenirs and everything from "soup to nuts". And the wood carvings are something else. Not sure of their source (hopefully local) but they are quirky, beautiful, and some are hilarious; all at the same time. These are more costly items but not outlandish considering you'd be buying one in the middle of a national park. It would be a treasured gift for the right recipient.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have shopped here for over 40 years when in Waterton. If you need groceries this is the place in Waterton. Good selection!!! Prices are a little high but considering it is in a National Park really not bad at all. Nice if you run out of something, or forgot something you can walk from the town site campground to grab it.
