Lovely place. Was there at around 6 p.m. and the area was sparkling, the sun was shining, the geese were gessing, swimmers swimming, dragonflies aplenty and boats were settling in for end of day. Nice trails. Clean washroom and covid measures in place.

It's such a beautiful spot to walk. Or even sit by the water. I go every year and love it more each time.

Amazing location. The biggest locks on the Rideau canal that I've seen. Very beautiful scenery all around. There's also a picturesque but a rather hard trail with lots of bends and climbs and a historic blacksmith house that holds demos of the craft near the locks.

What a beautiful place, 3 deep locks and their supporting infrastructure on the Rideau Canal. The land here is steep and the locks are accessible only by boat and by foot after a short walk from the car park. Of special interest is a large stone arch dam with wooden sluces leading to a power house. The dam is made from cut stones and stands over 50 feet tall. Take time to look at how everything was built as it was all done by hand and without the aid of heavy machines.

300 meter north of the locks is the dam at Jones Falls. It was constructed in the 1830s, and was used to tame the mile-long series of rapids and falls that run through the Jones Falls. Constructed of interlocking tapered vertical stones, and at a height of almost 60 feet (18.3m), the Great Stone Arch Dam was the highest dam in North America when it was completed. In 1946, the then Gananoque Light & Power Company started one of its largest projects, constructing a hydroelectric power station just below the dam at Jones Falls. The company brought online three generating units in 1949, adding a fourth in 1956, bringing the total output of the station to 1.8 MW.

Beautiful location, worth a visit to see a piece of Canadian history, a lot more to see than I expected.

Great experience if you get there at the right time! Worth the drive to see them in action. There were 10 boats going through while we were there. Sure wish the old hotel and restaurant were open. They are in a sad state of disrepair. Hope someone can refurbish the property to the days of yesteryear some day. It would definitely be a "to go" spot by both car and boat!!
