I worked with Ryan after being involved in a car accident. I had whiplash and back pain following the accident. I've always been an active person but I noticed that my regular workouts were doing more harm that good, and flaring my pain and muscle spasms. After working with Ryan, I found that I wasn't flaring (even after the workouts with him), and I accelerated my healing. I noticed that my recovery sped up dramatically and my overall pain diminished. I stopped having flares. I've been able to continue working out and living an active lifestyle, pain free, with Ryan's continued help and support. I found working with him really easy and fun, he was easy to communicate with. Ryan is a great kinesiologist and personal trainer and super knowledgeable in everything regarding best exercise practices. I highly recommend working with him for your personal fitness goals, and injury recovery.

I'd known Ryan as a personal trainer for a couple of years and admired the way he treated his clients with respect, knowledge, focus; that he knew when they needed encouragement (and did it with a smile); and that his clients were all ages and physical capabilities. So when my trainer moved to another city, I knew that Ryan would be my next personal trainer. I've been working out with Ryan three times a week for +6 years now. Due to sporadic physical limitations due to arthritis over the years, Ryan asks how I'm feeling before each workout, quickly adapting any exercises if necessary. He always focuses 100% on me during the workout, ensuring that I’m moving correctly. When I’m feeling distracted, he notices and keeps me focused and motivated. When the gym closed in March 2020 due to Covid-19, we started meeting outside to workout - around the False Creek Seawall at various locations, small parks - using stairs and/or hills for cardio (he seems to know where all the stairs are located), park benches for some exercises, using Therabands and/or weights too. He always made the workouts fun and worthwhile. So once the gym opened up again, I was up-to-speed on my cardio and strength. Throughout, Ryan practised the necessary social distancing with me, and cleaned any equipment before and after (as he continues to do at the gym). Ryan is always accommodating, whether I prefer working out inside the gym or outside in the fresh air on a nice day. I've been working out with personal trainers for over 15 years and can highly recommend Ryan.

I started training with Ryan when I felt like I wasn’t doing enough to stay in shape in my 60’s. He’s been a great idea man, willing to add in new exercises and giving me a progressive program so I can feel like I’m getting stronger. He was always flexible with times, although we did try to have a regular schedule. He didn’t mind if I had a lower energy day and always encouraged my best, regardless of what I was able to give at any moment. He uses all of the gym equipment and even adds in extras, like the battle ropes and outdoor sessions. We even did leg day as a hike rather than squats on the rack. And Ryan has a great sense of humor and is great to talk to as we work together. He made it fun and productive. I would encourage anyone my age, older or younger, to make the decision to book with this great trainer.

Nearly a year ago, I decided to embark on a journey of health and fitness. I called different trainers and training companies, but was left feeling like just another client, the companies were missing the personal connection. I found Ryan’s contact information, we talked over the phone and we decided to have an initial meeting to further review my fitness goals. Immediately, I found that Ryan had a genuine interest in facilitating me to achieve my fitness goals; I felt Ryan wanted me to succeed, as much as I wanted myself to succeed. Until a few months ago, due to the tighter restrictions with COVID, Ryan and I worked together multiple times per week. Ryan always brought a new activity to try out, while keeping activities that I liked relevant. I appreciated this aspect of the personal training, fitness may not be the most thrilling activity, but Ryan always made the hour fun and enjoyable. If you are just starting out with fitness, or a seasoned professional wanting to brush up on fitness training methods, I highly recommend Ryan.

Ryan is a great professional personal trainer. I have worked out with him for year. He trains me with a workout specially tailored to my goals, personal health and injuries. He adjusts the program when modifications are needed and he often checks in later after workouts to see how I am feeling. He is also fun and interesting to communicate with during your training and invests time in helping you with your nutrition and weight loss goals etc. I would highly recommend Ryan as a personal trainer.

I started working with Ryan in December 2019. I had purchased a gift certificate for training sessions at a silent auction and as a result, met Ryan, who quite simply changed my life. I had been working out sporadically prior to this, but I quickly realized that I wasn’t on track to meet my very lofty goals. Ryan very quickly made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to get out of my well established comfort zone. Implementing a program that combined weights and cardio, I began to feel stronger and healthier. Work out sessions included friendly banter, sage wisdom and often a kick in the butt. Ryan also became a trainer to members of my family including my nationally ranked competitive swimmer daughter! When I asked Ryan to help me achieve my ‘revenge body’, he didn’t judge but supported me through the process of shedding over 40 pounds and reclaiming my sparkle. I will be forever grateful for the impact my training sessions had in my life - both physically and mentally. I’m often asked what the secret was to my weight loss, and my reply is simply ‘Body by Ryan’.

I’ve been training with Ryan for the better part of a decade and there’s a good reason for it. Ryan is a down to earth, all round good guy that wants the best for his clients. I particularly enjoy how no two workouts are ever the same, which keeps things interesting. He is also a terrific educator and gives great life advice. Not just a fitness trainer in my opinion...but a wellness trainer and life coach all wrapped into one. As a result, he provides tremendous value to his clients. Highly recommend, regardless of your current fitness level.

This was my first time working with a trainer before. The pandemic took me from a place of consistency and motivation to a pretty sluggish and lazy life. I needed someone that was going to get both my mind and body back into the game. Ryan did just that! Ryan is an honest and personable trainer. From the start, I felt he asked me all the right questions to ensure he was on the right path with our sessions. He would regularly check in after our sessions to see how I was feeling, and would give me tips between our next session on how I could continue my routine. In addition, our sessions were dynamic and always changing, which was refreshing. I certainly learned a lot of new things. As well, I have a bad knee from running and he helped me build up strength and technique to improve my running ability. I feel motivated and excited to be back on track. If I need a boost again, I will not hesitate to reach out to Ryan again. Thanks Ryan!
