Patrick C. Griffin

M.S., RCSW

Patrick Griffin is a Registered Clinical Social Worker with more than 40 years post-Masters clinical experience. Patrick was graduated with a Bachelors degree in both English Literature and in Philosophy from Fordham University (New York). He went on to pursue a Masters in Clinical Social Work and was graduated from Columbia University, The School of Social Work in 1980.

His career in adult psychiatry has included direct clinical practice with adults, program design and administration, clinical supervision, consultation and academia. In addition to his therapy practice, Patrick is a Adjunct Instructor in The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary. In 2020 he received the Faculty's Sessional Award for Excellence in Teaching.  

Areas of clinical interest include adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, adult depression and anxiety (including panic and OCD), workplace stress and couples counselling. Patrick is also a clinical supervisor for post-MSW colleagues seeking advanced practice certification.

He has done post-graduate studies at The CG Jung Institute (Chicago) and the Psychosynthesis Centre (Madison, Wisconsin).  He is a Certified CBT therapist (u of Calgary). Patrick completed a Certificate in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in Toronto at The Centre for Mindfulness Studies.  He went on to study mindfulness at Oxford University in the summer of 2017 at their Mindfulness Centre. In 2020 he again attended training at Oxford University's Mindfulness Centre and studied MBCT-L (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Life). He is certified in MBCT through www.accessmbct.com. He is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma. Patrick is active in his Provincial professional College (The Alberta College of Social Workers) where he is currently serving on the Clinical Committee.  He is an Approved Clinical Supervisor for the College.
