Hi, I’m Gio.

I am a registered social worker and educator working in Calgary, Alberta. I use a variety of approaches to ensure my clients have multiple opportunities to work through concerns. These can include cognitive behavioral therapy, schema therapy, and narrative therapy. My technique is nurtured with trauma and violence informed care, person centered, and sensitive to diversity and culture.

COUPLES & ATTACHMENT: Love is the everlasting impact of compassion and kindness. But that doesn’t mean lust, loss, and anger are not part of the mix. When working with couples, I focus on the art of attachment and communication. This can involve mindfulness, exploring intimacy, balancing power, and boundary setting. Common concerns I support couples with include intimacy, balancing blended families, transitions, changes, grief and loss.

FAMILY SYSTEMS: Nearly all families deal with some sort of dysfunction or challenge at one time or another. Common concerns I support families with include child or parent with diverse gender/sexual identities, grief/loss, child/parent depression and/or anxiety, substance use, and blended family balance.  When working with families, the goal is to develop or maintain a sense of function and balance.

INDIVIDUALS: This 1 on 1 time is meant to better understand your concerns and find ways to help resolve them. You are the most knowledgeable about yourself and most aware of your experiences, feelings, thoughts and goals. I am here to work with you to understand and address the concerns to assist in utilizing your own strengths. Additionally, I am here to challenge you. I believe that counselling should help you grow and achieve a level of success.
