About Reliance Gregg's Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing

With current social distancing measures in place many offices are closing or introducing new working arrangements, and the trend for flexible and remote working is only continuing to increase. If you are among the growing number of people setting up a home office, understanding its electrical requirements will help ensure you can work from home like a pro.

Whether you have a dedicated home office, or just a dedicated corner of the living room, these five tips will help you set up a safe and efficient residential workspace.

1. Determine your electrical needs

Depending on the type of work you do, your home office setup could include a number of electrical devices including computers, printers, scanners, monitors, USB receptacles, power bars, and even additional lighting.

You’ll need to make sure your home office space has plenty of electrical outlets, and that there is enough voltage to safely run your equipment. Otherwise, your workflow could be interrupted by power outages caused by an overload.

If you’re not sure whether your home’s electrical circuit can handle the extra demand, it’s best to call in a licensed electrician for help.

2. Protect your electronics from power surges

Power surges can happen several times each day. They can be caused by something as simple as turning on a hairdryer or something as dramatic as a nearby lightning strike. Most small power surges are harmless, but larger surges may cause permanent damage to sensitive electrical equipment.

To help protect your office equipment from unexpected spikes in power, consider having a licensed electrician install a whole home surge protector. Learn more about our surge protection and our other electrical services here.

3. Get your internet up to speed

Reliable, highspeed internet is a must for any efficient home office. But if you’re sharing your bandwidth with family members who are streaming videos, gaming, or enjoying video chats, your older router may not be able to keep up.

Google WiFi works with your existing network and offers a simple, affordable solution to dead zones and lags. The experts at Reliance™ can get your smart WiFi system set up in a flash, so you can get back to work.

4. Keep your electrical equipment cool

Electronics hate the heat, so don’t forget to think about adequate air circulation when you’re setting up your home office. Minimizing the risk of overheating is as simple as leaving a few inches of space around your electronic devices and making sure the vents (usually located on the back or sides) are kept clean and clear. Never stack your devices, and keep your computer and other electronic equipment away from direct sunlight.

5. Make sure you have enough light

Creating a bright, inviting workspace will help keep you motivated and productive when you are working from home. If you’re not lucky enough to have a workspace with plenty of natural light, a good desk or floor lamp should do the trick. Invest in LED light bulbs to help keep your energy consumption in check.

I have been trying to contact the company for 5 months after spending several thousand dollars replacing both furnace and water heater. I have tried in every single way possible from accounting, corporate, sales team, local front desk, you name it I've tried it. Always with multiple promises on call backs or responses and none that are returned. I have even had my energy company reach out multiple times on my behalf attempting to get a response and nothing! All I can say is wow if you want customer service avoid this company. Response time within hours before they have your money, good luck once your balance is paid. I'd really like to give the install team more stars as with only very mild complaints (surface damage to floor, etc.) the install seemed quite good but holy does admin needs to pick up their socks.

We bought our furnace years ago when it was locally owned. The call center is now located in Ontario. Good luck getting anyone who knows anything there. French accent was so strong I could barely understand what they were saying. My furnace stopped working at 9 pm during winter and they didn’t even offer any appointments until the next day! So a very cold night later a technician shows up and even he was like why didn’t they send someone last night? The technician was great but I will tell people to avoid this company at all costs. Was just told that because parts are hard to get we could be without heat for weeks.. in winter in Saskatchewan. Avoid avoid avoid!

The sales guy, Jatinder, was very knowledgable, professional and friendly. He really showed that he cared about providing the best package to meet my needs. My furnace was not working and he was able to come see me on the same day as I called. I really appreciated the time spent explaining all the options. He also provided portable electric heaters to help stay warm! The installation team, Kevin, Paul and Mandy were great! They were friendly and took their time to answer all my questions. They were on time and did an excellent job cleaning up.They also explained where everything was located on all the equipment they installed. Thanks!

We have a maintenance contract with this company. Worth every cent!! I called at about 7 AM, when I realized the house was about 2Β° cooler than it should be and was told they could have someone there between 7 and 11 AM. I was very happy as we are in a cold snap and the house cools quickly. Tech showed up around 8:45, after calling me at about 8:30 to let me know he would be here soon. Diagnosed and repaired the problem very quickly. Very friendly and easy to talk with. Thanks Cody!!

Very satisfied with this installation as we were with our furnace and air conditioner summer 2020. We use Reliance service plan for plumbing and electrical as well. Great staff, courteous, professional, prompt. Guys were on time today, courteous, cleaned up, nothing left behind. Met new sales manager today and will be great contact to have. Very pleased.

Jansen was absolutely incredible! Gave me all of my options and broke down each option in a way I could understand. He has been very responsive and very thorough. Dion, his manager, came by and gave me his contact info and a personalized thank you card during install along with coffees. He also checked in to make sure everything was going well. The installers, Jose, Gabriel, and Ferdie, were thorough, clean, and explained the furnace very well to me. They were on time and didn’t stop working until the job was done. The electrician, Wyatt, was super friendly, on time, and went through my thermostat with me very thoroughly. I expressed I had a hot tub and didn’t want this effecting it at all and he was very understanding of that. I would definitely recommend these guys to others for furnaces in the future.

Woke up on Sunday morning with no heat. Tried to reignite the pilot light with no luck. Service technician arrived in less than an hour after my call. Diagnosis proved that the gas valve was shot and due to the age of the furnace (30 years) it would take 2 days to arrive if it was a proper fit. Because of other obvious issues we decided to go with a new furnace. Sales Rep. arrived on time, on Sunday, and an appointment was set up for Monday to have new a unit installed. They provided area heaters (3) we also had 3 of our own and thank goodness the outside temperature was only -6. We were comfortable through the night & had no issues with frozen pipes. The installers showed up on time, and cleaned up after themselves & explained everything to my wife as they went along with the install. Very pleased & satisfied at this time, we would definitely recommend this company
