Quartz is a semi natural man made material, that is considerable stronger than granite. The quartz countertops are non porous, making them easy to clean and maintain. Quartz is also somewhat flexible, meaning they won’t crack or chip easily, and are also stain resistant. Pigment can be added to a quartz countertop, so they do come in a wider range of colours and styles to choose from. Quartz countertops can discolour overtime if subjected to direct sunlight. While the name sounds similar, quartzite is a bit different than quartz. Quartzite is created when sandstone has been subjected to extreme heat, as well as pressure from the earth’s crust shifting. Quartzite countertops don’t have resins in them, making them more prone to chipping, and needing to be sealed. However, quartzite countertops are stunningly timeless.
