A	Andrew Catton on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was denied a small business bank account, because my business operates in the cryptocurrency field. This reason for rejecting is actually in violation of Canadian law. I was honest with all details related to my business, I report my income and pay my taxes, and my business is registered in MB. My business registration documents and ID were present for my appointment. The staff member put a hold on opening my account to talk to the manager. I was called and told basically "we don't know enough about cryptocurrency so we cant open the account". While their statement may be true in regards to this branch. RBC is beginning to use Ripple(XRP) to facilitate transfers, which is slowly replacing SWIFT. Ripple is in essence a centralized cryptocurrency, it's token XRP is traded on many cryptocurrency exchanges. RBC investments has released numerous articles on crypto. I left TD as my closest branch was closing but I'm already regretting the change. It's looking like I'll be changing banks yet again because I refuse to keep my personal banking at a bank that is willing to overlook Canadian law due to ignorance towards emerging technologies. I'll try once more to open a account, and also to go through the fruitless complaint process. But honestly I don't want to be at RBC that badly.
I	I K (Kira) on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice, new and clean location. They have new ATMs here!! No need envelopes to deposit cash anymore, means no more “processing time” and no long waits over weekend for deposits to be available.
J	Jeff Baylis on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I recently applied for a registered line of credit against my home. I bought the home and completed substantial renovations bringing up the value substantially. I have another 30k of renovations planned. It was agreed that the value of the house could be assumed to be the city of Winnipeg assessment without an in person appraisal. This would result in a potential for a 60-65k line of credit. During the meeting I was told that the service to debt ratio requirement would limit me to a 44k line of credit, which was lower than expected. I just received notice that I was formally approved at 33k, just shy of 3 weeks from the initial meeting. Disappointing that the assistant branch manager doesn't know what service to debt ratio is acceptable when submitting it for approval. This (in a small part) coupled with a nightmare experience setting up a mortgage with RBC (different branch), have completely deterred me from using RBC in the future for anything beyond daily banking. They have an excellent mobile app, and decent tellers, but are seriously lacking above that pay level.
